I've recently tried lunch at a couple of places in Winterthur with an Indian buddy.
The first was Jewel of India, Wartstr 23, Winterthur. Overpriced and both suffered from diarrhoea. Nuff said.
The second, Restaurant Tandoor, Schützenstrasse 43, Winterthur (corner of Wulflingerstr) was excellent. The lunchtime buffet of salad, a variety of main courses, Indian, Thai, and Mexican, plus a soft drink , was CHF 15. The restaurant was completely full, which I think says it all. I look forward to trying their a la carte menu.
The naan (chilli and garlic) was good, loved the raita, and the lamb vindaloo and butter chicken were definitely worth recommending.
Service is also very good, and the restaurant will be renovated soon, so don't be put off by its rather eclectic decoration right now.
They do a lunch time buffet and even cater, including to Zurich.
I have no affiliation with the restaurant, and I can't comment on how authentic it is, just enjoyed the food there.

Pertaining to the OP's question, is it the Best curry in Winterthur? I don't know as it's the only curry I've had in Winterthur but it's certainly very good.

They are the same owners offering almost the same menu as Restaurant Vulkan in Zürich which I always throughly enjoy despite some negative reviews I have seen on EF. In fact, I was there last week and being a repeat guest, was offered 1 complimentary main dish as well as 4 alcoholic drinks (we were a party of 4). Being Punjabi, of course the drink was Whisky !
If you are looking for authentic indian cuisine then i would definitely recommend Restaurant Tandoor, Schützenstrasse 43, Winterthur.
I used to dine there regularly and get free beers and stuff even my austrian, swiss and german collegues like this restaurant...
The food is good though I wouldn’t recommend ordering a takeaway — we waited 2 hours on Friday!
Best deal is the lunchtime buffet —CHF19 (ish) including a drink.
For a la carte you could even request the spices to be adjusted to your taste (spicier for us). We still make it a point to go there if other things permit, in spite of the fact that now we stay almost 300kms away.

Can't wait ! A couple of pints and then a nice spicy lunch ... love it!
The place was packed, good thing my friend had reserved a table, it was the only one available.
The food was fresh and looked inviting but I found the food to be unexciting and a tad bland. The dishes were too mildly spiced. I suppose they were prepared according to Swiss tastes.
There was a chicken curry, a kofta curry, a daal, 2 veggie dishes, rice, naan, raita and bhajias as a starter.
If you enjoy curries but prefer them to be mild, then you will enjoy their buffet lunch, and this is perhaps why they are busy at lunch.
The owner, who is of Pakistani origin, was a nice bloke and took care of us well. I have no problem going back to this place, but not for their buffet. Next time round, I will order a la carte and have them prepare the dishes more authentic, more spicy. And when I say spicy, I do not mean chilli, I mean more spices and more flavourful.
Restaurant Tandoor is still my chosen place in Winti.
