The General iPhone Thread and FAQ

Noooo! I missed that!

WTF??!! I missed that too, when did they tell us this?

EDIT: I also hadn't seen the fact that there will be hardly any white ones in CH either. They're starting to take the p!ss...

I was too planning to take the white one...but now i'll have to live with the black one

And i guess there are very few 16gb iphones around...

From what I've read, they're expecting the 16gb to sell much better, and will be manufacturing it in larger quantities.

Does anyone know why Orange are not doing the visual voicemail, or point me in the direction of where they say this please?

On their Flash webpage they say "Listen to voicemail in any order with Visual Voicemail", yet the FAQ here says "Orange will not be offering Visual Voicemail for the foreseeable future"

Hey everyone just found some great unboxing pictures

http://gizmodo.com/5023141/iphone-3g...est-photos-yet

It compares the iPhone 3G with the first iPhone a few times.

EDIT: I can finally edit

Hey,

Did anybody who pre-registered on the Orange website got any mails from them today with the promised link to the e-shop?

Nope, nothing as of yet.

No, not a sausage

I guess they're not going to send them out as it seems like they're having some really serious problems on their site - the home is OK, but My Account has been blocked for ages. There must be lots of people running around trying to fix it.

My guess is that the prices I saw this morning was test data that somebody accidentally made live.

So much for us valued customers being given priority...

until My Account is up and running I meant to say.

Ok I have 2 quick questions:

1) If I use my wifi at home will it cost money to browse the web?

2) Is it possible to check my emails on the go without this microsoft exchange thing? and will it be free?

EDIT: Will I be able to use wifi networks all over for free and if I use 3G internet will it cost money?

1) No.

2) Yes, it supports IMAP and POP mail servers. It will cost the same as any other Internet usage.

EDIT: Check the FAQ in the first post in this thread.

Oh no, I feel sorry for all the thousands of ppl who leave messages on my phone.

White? Apple are even due to abandon white macbooks soon. Sooo 2005 .

Srsly though, a white phone will be hideous and make it even more obvious to potential thieves what you are cradling to your face (yes yes, i'm know, the massive crimewave that CH is currently in the midst of).

@Ric - regardless of your opinion as to whether or not these things are useful / tasteful, it would still be good for potential buyers to know whether or not they will be available in CH, when, and on what carrier.

Do you have any information about that?

EDIT: I've just re-read you post, and don't understand what you mean by how visual voicemail will impact the people leaving the messages, could you clarify?

I just checked the FAQ but I couldn't find if it was free to use 3G internet or not.

yes, but unfortunately, right now only about 1/3 of the phones expected to arrive in stores on July 11 will be 16gb, according to some claims over at macprime.

Have a look at the section with the subscriptions. All of them include some data volume.

they confirmed this to macprime.ch - they will be offering the service eventually but apparently haven't made the necessary changes to their network yet. Same goes for Orange France

peter

That would be unfortunate indeed. I assume no-one here prefers the 8gb either?

As an iPhone user for more than 15 years, I have to say I’m about as excited about this new foldable as I am about the next COVID pandemic. The screen ratio is useless and they’ve not managed to address the visible crease that plagues most foldable devices.

I’ll be holding on to my 17 Pro Max for another year.
