There will be some that will pay US2K for a foldable iPhone, but not me. The new A20 chip that powers this and the 18 Pro and Pro Max does look very, very good.
The surprise was the new iPods - with no price increase!

120x234mm when open, that’s a tablet.
When folded, the 83mm width makes it a full cm wider than previous iphones, and 11mm thick. Can it still be carried in pocket in the clothing or a handbag becomes necessary?
At first I was excited, thinking a foldable phone that essentially doubles an ipad would be a more convenient device when I travel.
Then I remembered that I travel with a ‘US-only’ phone, ready to hand it over if required. Nothing I need the larger screen for is on that phone.

I’m sure there is a use case for this foldable, and compared to the others on the market its not awful. However the dream of a Pro Max size phone with similar battery life, camera quality and just this neat party trick, remains elusive.
I only really like smallish cross body bags when I’m out and about as I have nerve damage to one arm and for the past year have had bursitis in my shoulder on the same side. I get annoyed at how big phones are becoming because of my bags. First world problems though I know ![]()
