the good ol diet

hello there fellow weight loss wannabe's

i am trying to find stores that sell weight watchers meals

i would like to look them up on line to see what the points are like.

any ideas?

Coop sells Weight Watcher stuff

I've never seen Weight Watcher's pre-made meals sold here, though I have seen some single products sold here (e.g. butter or ice cream). The Swiss aren't too big on pre-made (microwaveable) meals. So what you could do is find some healthy recipes, portion them out and then freeze some.

Good luck with your diet!

Tapeworm diet - eat all you want and just get skinnier

Coop have some of the weightwatchers frozen ready meals as well as a whole range of other weightwatchers products. I've never tried any of them so can't say how good they are though.

By the way, the points are on the packages themselves, so you don't need to look online for them. But CarrieF is right - rather than eat some pre-packaged garbage full of chemicals that is supposedly good for you, why not find some good healthy recipes and make for yourself?

The only thing I find acceptable from Weight Watchers in CH is the beef. It seems to be the only lower fat beef you can buy without asking the butcher to grind it fresh.

Indeed. And the idea that "low-fat" is the be all and end all of diet foods is being challenged quite a lot recently, e.g. http://www.independent.co.uk/life-st...t-8437575.html

It's actually quite difficult when cooking for yourself to add the amounts of sugars often found in convenience foods. Was cooking a Tuscan wild boar in chocolate sauce dish last week and really struggled to make myself add the required amount of sugar (and chocolate). Was absolutely delicious though, and very satisfying, such that portion sizes could be quite low and still leave you feeling satisfied.

Recipe at http://asaucepanandasuitcase.blogspo...ate-sauce.html , but we added chilli, too. Not enough to make it really 'hot' but just to add to the overall 'spiceyness' of the dish.

Agreed. I just like to use the lower fat beef for some recipes.

Edit to reply to Ace1: I'm referring to minced (ground) beef.

Possibly yet another reason why there's less obesity in Switzerland than the U.K.

We find that on return visits, most things in the U.K. containing sugar are impossibly sweet to the point of being inedible.

I think people must just get used to it in the same way as we've got used to less sweet stuff here.

Sure. But couldn't you just buy ordinary beef and trim the extra fat off yourself? Or are you talking about minced beef? In which case you may be better off investing in a mincer and doing it from lean meat yourself.

Except for the breakfast cereals which are all horribly sweet over here but then they're probably mostly eaten by foreigners anyway . Lucky I like porridge for breakfast.

I don't think buying Weightwatchers food (which Coop does sell - individual ingredients nd also ready meals) is worthwhile. All these diet/low-fat meals simply remove the fats and replace them with sugar. You're (usually) better off eating the fat.

I've read about people who have joined th Weightwatchers program and enjoyed it (and lost weight) but just buying random foodstuffs yourself isn't the same.

As for meat - just buy the lean stuff. However, not all recipes work well with meat which is too lean. You're much better off, imo, buying the fatty stuff and simply eating less.

They reckon 95% of diets don't work. The weight-watchers meetings (not the food) do work due to the wish to avoid the embarrassment of publicly being told that you have gained weight and the public adoration when you've lost it.

Which....at the end of the day.....is the only weight loss plan which works

I tried weight watchers stuff... Useless. (Unless you are following a specific points plan i think)

Anyways, i found what really works is buying "Fresh" ingredients. No pre packed stuff. Works GREAT & the taste's GREAT

Alos for "Ready Meals" buy yourself oven bags. Then everything goes into the bag and into the oven. Minimum effort and no need to stand over a hot stove.....

Good Luck

Not really. You could eat more but of much healthier, lower calorific value, foods. Or you could stick your fingers down your throat after each meal. It's actually a simple "calories out vs calories in". What complicates it is that genetics play a part as to how many calories one burns and what calories from some foods the body decides to store vs get rid of/use.

Or try the latest idea from the USA http://www.independent.co.uk/life-st...h-8440201.html

It's a good job we don't have a food shortage or people starving elsewhere on this planet, else that would be a totally reckless idea. I think the food sucked out should be connected via a pipe right back into the fat lardarse's mouth. Perfect feedback loop.

Invented by the same person who invented the pointless Segway - transport for people too lazy to walk or bike.

I don't find the Segway to be pointless; seeing groups of tourists rolling down the streets of Barcelona or Rome never fails to amuse me!
