Bill Oddie passed away today at the age of 85. With Tim Brooke-Taylor’s passing in 2020, Graeme Garden remains the last survivor of the trio.
The Goodies and Dr. Who were the staple viewing of my childhood, as they were then only shows on TV we were allowed to watch after school. I would say a lot of their comedy is no longer politically correct, but my god it was funny at the time. An the art of Ecky Thump will be lost forever…
Never understood why The Goodies had any success at all. They were so corny…
It wasn’t so much corny as Pythonesque.

I introduced my kids to the Goodies when they were younger (I’ve got all the episodes on DVD).
They thought they was absolutely hilarious and re-watched them many times.
Some of the sketches were the most expensive to make out of any UK TV programme at the time.
They were brlliant. Everything from the pirate radio station (and now..a Walk in the Black Forest..) to the Eskimo Phrasebook was intelligent and avant garde…although some no longer politically correct (like the Apart-height episode).
I loved the Goodies, more innocent times 
I liked it as a kid, but having seen clips The Goodies hasn’t aged very well. It was sad Tim Brooke Taylor died of something Covid related and I admired Bill Oddie for being so honest about his mental health struggles.
Having watched episodes of Spike Milligan’s Q series not long ago, well you couldn’t get away with that in this day and age lol.
One of our German friends is 10 years younger than us and mad on Monty Python. When they released “Just The Words” in 2 volumes years ago I had them signed by Michael Palin, I might gift them to our friend when we eventually return home for good.
I’ve always been astonished that as kids we got Monty Python yet a lot of adults didn’t (although my mother did like naked Terry Jones at the organ ha ha). Maybe it’s because kids had Do Not Adjust Your Set at tea time before the Pythons came along?

) I read David Jason’s autobiography 12 years ago when I was stuck in hospital for 10 days waiting for my gallbladder to be removed, he was in Do Not Adjust and said he was very hurt not to have been invited to join the Pythons. He thought it was because he hadn’t been to university.
When I started dating my OH I thought he was a bit weird because instead of music tapes in his car he had Monty Python songs and Derek and Clive. Not very romantic lol
