I don't think I have ever met/seen a more boring group of people than here in Switzerland. Do these people know how to have fun? Everything is so dull. When you walk on the street people are dressed all in black. When you are on a tram, nobody is talking. When you go to a restaurant it is very quiet compared to other places. The Swiss should learn to open up, party and not be afraid of looking stupid.
Ha, you think that ́s bad? Ever been to a Swiss company Xmas party? Open bar after dinner, but 2/3 choose to go home directly after the meal and the few who stay switch to coke. And no, I don ́t mean that white stuff
So we shall all dress like Boy George in his heyday, prattle nonesense when we've got nothing to say really ,just make it sound livelier on the tram ride home and then organise a hullabaloo when we're out,so that everyone knows, we're here as well????
I must admit in this case I like being dull and really don't feel i miss out on anything and can very well live out my passions and such in private without the world and his sister sharing it
I have to say that while my family and I make fun of the Swiss for having no sense of humor and the inability to have a good time, I have discovered that I quite enjoy the Swiss version of parties, having attended my cousin's wedding last year. There was good music (performed by various party guests), good food, good wine, a great location (an orchid hothouse--beautiful setting), and fun games (many of which I had never heard of and wanted very much to bring back to the States with me).
I'd take their version over the loud, drunken parties I've attended here in the States any day of the week. The Swiss definitely know how to have a good time--it's just a different kind of good time.
Most of the guys I've met here could give Ben Stein from Ferris Bueller's Day Off a good run for his money. The word boring doesn't even begin to describe the office culture.
I've always found a place is what you make it. If you find the people boring, try and find like minded people. I've only been out here three 3 weeks and have already managed to find some fun people here in Zug through this forum.
Yes, the Swiss as a whole may be 'slightly' ( ) more reserved but remember, we're guests in their country
The Swiss are just more reserved, i have some good Swiss friends that have a great sense of humor, I'm lucky to also work with a large international team so the office environment is lively and fun at times when we need to let of steam....
However - our Xmas dinner, which is always held in January is always the same, nice dinner & traditional swiss music.
As to loud drunken parties, i prefer the swiss way anytime, i don't need to drink to have a great time and nether do my Friends, and at least if i do something too over the top i can apologize there and then...
