Does standing up while being overweight count as weightlifting?
Actually, thatās not as silly as it sounds. Recently Iāve had to haul all the heavy flower pots from the kitchen to the upstairs (16 stairs, up & down, 6 times). Just 8-10 kilos can make the climb much harder. I try to imagine that weight added to mine, and itās not surprising that the body suffers when you are overweight.
Yes, all fat guys in the gym - including myself - have very strong legs.
I can crack wallnuts between my ass-cheeks.
Yes.
But why do we have legs in first place? To weightlift or to move around?
Three days in a Hotel, breakfast, a few thin crispy crunchy excuses for what they think is bacon, a pat of butter on a Semmel and this Ersatz-eggy yellowish stuff. Top coffes and a yoghurt.
First Night pigged out at the Greek Place, and Last Night was a rather Strange looking Dƶner.
Oodles of water and a Beer.
Lets See if the scales punch me tomorrow Morning.
Slammerās definition of diet: āerraticā ![]()
In terms of evolution, human legs (and the rest of the body) are optimized for long-distance, endurance chasing.
He doesnāt have to anymoreā¦she did not run away.
To be honest, itās the sort of diet doctors used to recommend to someone trying to gain weight.
If someone thinks this sort of thing is a good way to lose weight then that could explain how they got to their weight in the first place.
(Harsh words perhaps Slammer, but youāre a big boy now)
Resisted a lot, but now need to ask: do you have an axe to grind?
Then eat them
Not at all.
Iām actually surprised no one else said anything. Not sure whether itās just ignorance about whatās healthy.
Mocking someone for their weight is one thing and no one has done that on this thread but suggesting that someone is perhaps not eating the right sort of things to lose weight is something else.
Donor kebabs (and other take-aways), large amounts of cheese, salami, sausage etc is certainly part of an obesity diet.
The one thing that was vaguely healthy was what others (and Slammer) thought was unhealthy - namely the spaghetti spaghetti bolognese.
Maybe this is one of those subjects where people feel they canāt be wrong - like religion, so people get a free pass to believe what they want without criticism?
They understand itās none of their business would be my guess.
So, someoneās choices are part of an obesity diet, soā¦?
My stance is that I am wrong if I break the law or hurt my loved ones, anything else is NPC noise.
Except this is a discussion forum.
Are you suggesting that this subject should be treated in the same way as someoneās religious beliefs?
Maybe thatās why obesity levels have soared in the western world? No one likes to be told that they are eating the wrong thing.
No, itās far more serious than religious beliefs. Religion is foofy mass delusion, personal choices are about personal freedom.
No, obesity levels have increased because availability of calories has increased while physical activity has decreased.
So what are you discussing? You made your point, it was ignored, now perhaps contribute something else?
The beauty of my version of diat is that it doesnt restrict WHAT you eat, but how MUCH you eat.
A grown up Dƶner, for instance (meat, veg, yoghurt, bun and scharf) the size of a baby is quite hefty I agree.
But a half serving, and not even managed to eat all of that is valid, even more if you remember that apert from a Semmel at Breakfast there was nothing inbetween breakfast and the Dƶner at six and then nothing more untill this morning.
No lunch, no snacks, just water and willpower.
Not to many people. Taking generally about religion is one thing - criticising, or even commenting on someoneās beliefs is a no-no.
I was right about the ignorance.
Physical activity has little to do with total calories burnt in a day. Do try and keep up.
Are you a moderator? Thereās an ignore function if you canāt cope with what someone writes.
No, just a concerned citizen, but why are you pulling the freedom of speech card when youāre rejecting the freedom of choice and freedom from patronizing schmucks cards? No I can cope, perhaps you havenāt come across a confident fat guy before?
I love how in Switzerland one is free from paying to support everyoneās version of miracle sky man.
Not interested, man. What I am interested in I know very well, what I am not is, as I said earlier, NPC noise.
There is no wrong food. There are wrong amounts, and wrong frequency.
I try to remember when was the last time I bought 1 kilo of bacon and it was like 2 months ago, maybe a bit more. Cooked it little by little, enjoyed it, and no rush to buy another kilo until it looks appetizing again.
Itās not that different to alcohol. Keep control of how much and when, enjoy. If drinking is the first thing in the morning, there might be something wrong in spite of nothing fundamentally wrong with drinking.
EDIT: I remembered ultra-processed food which I ignore most of times because itās not part of the food at home. If thereās some hedonic value, why not? However, the amount has to be smaller and the eating frequency lower.
