They threw me out of the COOP restaurant

Was sitting in the COOP restaurant in Letzli Park drinking my cold cofee that I had bought from the supermarket. One of the staff came up to me and said its forbidden to consume things other than what the restaurant sells. I told her I was sitting there because the new renovated Letzi Park does not offer one sitting place apart from in the restaurants. She replied “that’s not my problem”.Arse holes. And then she walked over to a guy who was on his laptop but not consuming anything and told him to stop and leave because it was 11am (eating time for the Swiss )

And your problem is what exactly?

No promlem exactly except that there is not one sitting place at Letzi Park except for in a reataurant and that they tell a laptop user to pack up and leave. Its not as if its a 5 star restaurant. Its more like a canteen if anything.

Why did I know - without even opening the thread or looking at anything apart from the title - who the thread starter would be?

It’s weird isn’t it? I saw the title and knew instantly who had started the thread.

You’re missing your vocation. You should be a clairvoyant.

they threw me out of several places also    but I see always this as positive experiences and opportunities to do other things

-from a cinema (in Wien) – i was invited to see “sex & the city”. It was such a shitty movie, that I decided to comment it to my friends around me-- starting from the ‘Abu Dabi’ opening…which was clearly shot in Marrakesh, nothing to do one with the other culture :D. Someone complained, an usher came 10 minutes later, and relieved me from 90 minutes of suffering. I went to the bar next door, had a nice drink, and met a couple of cool people…also waiting for partners watching the film

-from another cinema (also in Wien…hmmmm…do I see a pattern here?) in this case, we all watching the movie -about a dozen- joined the conversation. The projectionist, at the end of the 1st reel, came to the small cinema and asked if we wanted to leave or finisht the movie. We said “finish, finish” We watched the movie…and we went then all together --totally strangers – for several drinks at the Planter’s club (it was The Third Man | BURG KINO Wien | Vienna | Original Versions), if you have the chance and nothing to do on a sunday evening in Wien, I highly recommend it)

-from a plane, in Zurich!!! there were 2 flights ZRH-DUS at the same time, and I went AND ENTERED the wrong one. I was already sited, and, what a mess, I enjoyed the ‘tightest’ security protocol at ZRH airport from A to Z. Very, very interesting. I was ‘only’ 4 h late to my destination (and thanks god I was a senator), but the experience was worth it.

and many many many other places

Did the finish the renovation? I went to COOP there a couple months ago. The ground floor was all broken, barriers and plastic to keep the dust in check everywhere. It’s bad if there are no benches anymore after the renovation work.

I though it was a good idea to go there while wife was busy with some stuff in ZH, I’ll shop weekly food there and relax a bit I thought haha. Nope, the reduced hallways and the amount of people don’t mix well.

The renovation is nearing completion. The plastic dust etc is gone. But there is nowhere to sit. Probably they will install seats towards the end. Its supposed to be finished this autumn.

I consume some pastry from the supermarket in Coop/Migros Restaurant sometimes, but usually I buy coffee or tee in the restaurant and it’s not during the lunch hours. Never had any remarks from the staff.

I like that in the central Migros in Zürich there are chairs and tables on the ground floor where you can eat anything you want. We usually stop there with kids when we are shopping in Zurich and everybody eats what food they want from Migros TakeAway/Restaurant/Supermarket or Hitzberger. Sometimes we even bring food from McDonalds or Holy Cow, so that we can eat all together.

yes. But that area with the chairs and tables on the ground floor is noisy and not particularly comfortable. Migros/COOP are interested in one thing only- your money!

They’re businesses. Why should it be any different?

They’re not a hotel or a high end restaurant, they’re primarily a business.
Why should they provide comfortable seating for you to while away your days in? They’re providing a service which you’re free to use if you want to.
The restaurant/cafe areas are for paying customers of those places.

Well I knew straight away because he posted exactly the same thing a year or so ago.

If it happens with him only once a year, maybe it’s not so bad after all?

Clearly a repeat law breaker. He is a tax dodger. From Perplexity

Switzerland applies a standard VAT rate of 8.1% to most goods and services, including coffee consumed on-site at cafes or restaurants (like sit-down service). However, takeaway coffee—sold for consumption off-premises, such as to-go cups or delivery—qualifies as food under the reduced VAT rate of 2.6%.

I don’t know the law re this in Switzerland, but in the UK you are not permitted to consume food in a store café or restaurant you’ve purchased in another place on health and safety grounds, even if it’s been purchased in another part of the store like the food hall or takeaway.

He should be locked up! No possibility of rehabilitation

I thought it was:

Migros: Do what I say, not what I do!
