Meanwhile, driving fast on narrow roads in mid winter has always worked for me!

Go to Malmö, find the old parts of the city and just stroll around. Cobble stone, pittoresque houses and tiny cafés everywhere. It's amazing. Or just take the bridge over to Denmark and Copenhagen.
And if you find your way up to Gothenburg (although that's further north) take a boat trip to Saltholmarna. And walk around the neighbourhood of Haga! And of course Liseberg ( http://www.liseberg.com/en/home/ ) if the kids get bored.
Having lived in Göteborg many years ago, I am one of those who thinks that the Swedish East/West coasts are among the most beautiful places in the world (during the Summer). Unfortunately, Summer is fleeting and some years doesn't come at all.
If you can get access to a sailboat, your kids would love island hopping. Another alternative is Gotland. I did a summer camping trip on bikes that was really awesome.
But your itinerary looks fun. Copenhagen,Stockholm, Tallinn are all cool and there are beaches IN Tallinn. And if you get some rain, as others point out, there are museums (ie Vasa) and historic stuff in each capital. I always like the tourist boats through the canals (Göteborg/Stockholm/Copenhagen) as a starting point.

I am considering spending a whole holiday in Visby and surroundings on Gotland. A friend's just convinced me.
My experience was more than 20 years ago, but I don't think it has changed much. I loved it!
