Thread about cyclists breaking the law

Rather than derail the other thread about vulnerable road users any more, this thread is for cyclists breaking the law or being utter selfish b*stards and how perhaps they should be punished by other road users as the Police seem particularly impotent about dealing with this curse of modern society which affects us all in such a fundamental way.

So, give it your best!

This is Switzerland!

Falling from the bike and crashing is “losing the control of your vehicle”, so it’s an infraction according to the road law and there are fines for that

And since two bodies cannot occupy the same space at the same time:

- Pedestrian breaks cyclist’s shoulder

- Cyclist breaks pedestrian’s femur

So, there are more and less vulnerable people out there, but we can all be complete ********es

Sigh.

Worst case is old pensioners like me who have ebikes and we stop for nothing, stop signs, red lights, cars, pedestrians - you are all younger than us so watch your backs

Bonus points for not wearing a helmet (but a high-vis vest)

Although that’s not breaking the law so probably doesn’t count.

Why aren’t cars painted in hi-viz colours rather than the ubiquitous black or grey?

Do you mean that young guy who approached from my left, crossed in front of me on the crosswalk and then proceeded on the wrong side of the road?

Musta bin my fault!

Just like the guy who rode up behind me on the pavement on his e-bike and knocked me flying resulting in me needing stitches in my leg wound. That must have been my fault too.
Why he felt he needed to ride on the pavement when there was a perfectly good three metre wide lane specifically for cyclists just next to it is beyond me. It a busy area full of pedestrians so he was just being a jerk.

Passers by either tried to help me or made sure he stayed on the spot and one of them called one of the local patrolling bobbies over who took his details.

No idea what will come of it but I was told I could claim my medical expenses from him.

I’ve seen the police twice this week pulling motorcycles over for using that lane when they’re not actually allowed to ride there.

Why? No one is saying some cyclists don’t break the rules.

I get incredibly frustrated as a cyclist when I’m waiting at a red light and another one goes straight-thro. I usually say something.

Happened once in a city in the UK. I was waiting at a junction with a red light and a group of cyclists went straight through. My wife shouted out that the light was red and they swore at her - in Schweizer-deutsch.

They didn’t half get a shock when we caught up with them further up the road and she gave them a right dressing down in their own dialect!

(I’m sure I’ve posted this before but it is funny).

That would wear off quickly.

Typisch cyclists.

This morning, as I was speeding down Birnensdorferstrasse, I was rather quickly overtaken by a chunky middle-aged gentleman on his e-bike.

In the last section, before the radar, I had to brake because a pedestrian crossed the road and a car was stopped there. My top speed was 53km/h.

I saw him zooming around cars like they were static obstacles…

I caught him at the end of the hill, at the traffic light where Birmensdorferstrasse is forking into Kehlhofstrasse. I asked him how fast he got and with a little hesitation, he said „62“.

His e-bike had not plate, so I assume he had some „improvements“ to the firmware that allowed this speed.

He was wearing a helmet, to his credit.
