Hey Folks,
does anyone know the secret to the turning (and sometimes tilting) windows.
some windows in my place turn and some both tilt and turn.
when i look at the mechanism, it seems as if there is not much mechanically separating the two types.
so: my question - can one convert a turning window to the both tilting and turning variety (with out complete replacement, or a most a little bit of messing around)
thx
nic
Not all my windows tilt. The ones that do seem to have an extra pair of clips in the bottom that the window opens on at an angle. I assume the tilting ones are more costly or they would always install them. I don't believe conversion is possible without replacing the window.
Mine work like this:
Handle up = tilting
Handle horizontal = open normally
Handle down = closed
I kind of need a manual for when we have visitors since they always think they have broken the window when they accidently tilt it
thanks. guess i'll talk to the building handyman about making some modifications.
are there any fellas out there who have had a crack at this and can offer any recommendations?
It can be done but some parts have to be changed inside of the window. My neighbor had a couple of his windows changed by a window repair man.
I had the tilt mechanism retrofitted on some of my windows where it was missing at a cost of approx 100CHF/window including installation.
thanks Jekyll,
that sounds promising. can this be done by any kind of handyman?
cheers
nic
Hi Nic,
It was done by the people who originally supplied the windows. I just checked the quotation and it cost me 103CHF/window last May. The description of the work was "Drehkipp einbauen"
Good luck
