I am from India. My employer has applied for my visa on April 30 . But joining date as per contract is 1st July. Does anyone know if we can get an update about visa status from authorities in this month mid or atleast by June mid ? Or is there a chance my visa will be issued after the joining date ie; 1st July?

Normally your employer will receive updates and transmit them to you when the work authorities have decided to recommend you be issued a permit or not, and again later if and when immigration makes the decision to grant the permit.
Also bear in mind that it’s a two stage approval process. First the canton has to give it’s approval and then it has to go up to SEM for them to have a look at it.
Not really. Cantons get yearly quota limits for B and L permits for non-EU nationals and these might also be further restricted by quarterly limits; I don’t know for sure. Or maybe the canton itself imposed this sort of limit.
I feel sorry for you, caught in the stress of this uncertainty. Unfortunately, it is how the system works, and you are not alone in this, as it happens to everyone waiting to be issued the visa to enter the country. Once you're here on that visa, getting the permit is a mere formality.
The immigration authorities are cantonal, and each canton works differently, They are, however, all fairly busy with many applications, and things slowed down yet more due to Covid. The waiting can be nerve-wracking, and yet there really is no way to know how long it will take. That's why I think it's important to keep your whole life set up in India, as you have it now, and don't dismantle any part of it, until you have that visa, for sure.
Fortunately, employers here know this. Therefore, even though they will have offered you a job with a certain starting date, they will also have reckoned with the possibility that the visa might be issued in time but perhaps only after that date, and they will most likely just employ you from whenever you get here.
The important part, for you, is to keep in contact with the potential employer. And to plan your matters in India well (e.g. get all your papers in order, work out which of your possessions you will bring with you, which you will sell or give away or store, work out how to terminate your current employment and any rental contract, work through all health issues, especially teeth and eyes, which will cost you less there than here, and so on), so that once the visa does arrive, you will be able to move from India to Switzerland fairly quickly.
