Timing of deregistration & final salary payment

Hello all,

Hoping I can get some insight here... I've searched but can't find anything related to this specific situation as it relates to deregistration & leaving Switzerland.

US Citizen, C permit holder, returning to the US. We planned to visit our Gemeinde this week (mid-August) & deregister with a date of mid-September & fly out before the end of September. I just found out my remaining vacation balance that will be paid out by my employer will lag one full month, to be paid out at the end of September... after we were planning to deregister (& after I will have left the country).

This seems like it may be problematic. If I'm deregistered, I'm technically a tourist with no permit & no right to work. Will this last payment be "allowed"? Or do I need to push my deregistration date to after this payment is made? (I still plan to fly out before my deregistration date, but as I understand it, this isn't an issue as long as we've taken care of the required things).

Does anyone have any experience with this or insight?

Talk to your commune, AFAIK you can usually deregister 2-4 weeks in advance.

However still having your C would give you much more safety if stuff were to happen, like an accident or illness. Personally I would wait.

Insurance isn't the issue as I plan to leave before my deregistration date (& therefore will still be covered by all my insurances here)... it's the question of if receiving a payment from my (previous) employer after my deregistration date is an issue.

It's not an issue because it's delayed payment for services rendered at a time you had a permit. Your salary statement will have you working from X to y and that is fine.
