No surprise. .. he prob "came out" as the story was going to be in a paper tomorrow.

Reminds me of all the hysteria around the royal baby; what was the headline in Private Eye? "Woman has baby!"?
In this case it would be "Gay man is gay!"
Who cares really. What surprises me most is that there's a story about this, and a thread.
It is a story, as this 19 y.o. is standing up against the last bastion of homophobia in the western world - sports (OK, he is actually lying in his bed!).
And homophobia, as well as other forms of basic human rights violations are important issues, at least to some of us.
Did I really have to explain this all? I thought it was self-evident?
Oh ye that's right, he's the first ever gay sports person.
Could you help me out naming a few more world top athletes (olympic medal winners etc.) who have publicly declared their homosexuality at the peak of their career?

Take a closer look at these athletes' biographies and you will see that they actually confirm what I am saying. BTW, only Martina Navratilova meets the requested criteria.
Greg Louganis came out as both gay and HIV positive in 1988. Don't you remember how much up an uproar there was? He knew he was HIV positive, but didn't tell anybody, and during the preliminary rounds of the Olympics he hit his head on the spring board and got blood in the pool.
