Trading account transfer from uk to Switzerland

Hi

As i have moved to Switzerland from the uk, my ig trading account must close in the next couple of weeks.

The account must be transferred to an account here but unsure of the best way to go about it.

Can anyone help?

Shares are with uk and us companies.

Another spanner is that my shares in one company are on hold as the organisation has had some compliance issues. So unure what to fo with these as cant buy or sell at the moment.

Cheers

I never would have thought that IG (Instagram) might become a stock broker.

I am in a similar position to you with savings that need to be transferred. However, the exchange rate is really awful at the moment. I know that UBS allows accounts in sterling but I'm guessing the funds would still have to be transferred to CH at a loss.

My father died recently in the UK and my part of the inheritance was transferred to a new GBP account opened by my bank for the purpose. There were no fees either from the UK side (Barclays), nor here in Switzerland (BCV). I'm holding the money in sterling so as not to be trounced by a random exchange rate on the days when the transfers were made. As the exchange rate has been going south recently, I'm just sitting on the money, waiting for sunnier days.

Somewhat surprisingly Barclays needed explanations on how to make international transfers and it was only the threat of legal action by my brother, who's administering the estate, that got things moving.
