Our local chemist does a really effective, herbal throat spray: Atropa belladonna, Salvia divinorum (mild hallucinogenic, banned in some US states!), Propolis, in 22% alcohol, to be used as a mouth spray. Kolin Apoteke in Zug. Recommended for Sceptics who think herbal remidies are a joke. Prepare to be converted!

Belladona is also quite toxic being able to kill animals and humans if one ingests a berry, leaf or a specific root but I believe there are homeopathic remedies prepared with this plant that in fact help to stop larynx infections . Only pharmaceutical staff with the right knowledge can prepare this substances after rigorous supervision ( I believe this is the case) because these are extremely toxic plants. Thanks, it is always good to know more although I am always a bit scared to try these new medicines !
Yeah, 15 years ago I had a terrible strep throat for three weeks and almost killed myself on top of that with some terrific homeopathic Belladona potion that they sold me in a pharmacy in Berlin. Haha, what a pain in butt it was. I had an athritic pains in joints after that for about 5yrs anytime I had fever.
If it's early enough, lotsa herbal remedies will work, or I suggest Prissnitz (sp?), which always works for me: Cold wet hankerchief or cotton napkin around your neck, thin plastic layer over that and wool scraf over that. Have it over night, your neck will heat up, sweat and body will pocus on killing whatever is bad there. You are a brand new person the next morning.
But, it is is late in the infection and you really do have a strep or something equally evil, I would abstain from herbs, oils or wet cloths and just pop some good old antibiotics. If it is a simple flu, it will usually just pass, the cough will go away as soon as your nose clears. What helps me with stuffy head and nose problems is the best decongestant ever - wash dishes in very hot water, hands dipped in constantly. (Oh I know you don't want any crazy roots/berries/spice to chew, but sage is the best. There are sage pastilles to suck on, they help me with sore throat too).
Thanks for sharing! Never tried the wrapping process...I think tonight I ́ll try the neck wrapping and the feet with Vic altogether ! This should do !
Right know i ́m having the old chicken soup with rice and my Dr. Bayard's cough drops made withMarshmallow or Althaea officinalis (a native african species) and honey:
Yes, or with a very diluted peroxide, works for me really efficiently. Say, half a teasp in a half of a normal coffee mug of luke warm water, 1x a day. I wouldn't do it more than 3-4 days.
While you're busy wrapping your feet in Coop bags and Aldi bags, make a cup of chamomile tea. It's great for the sore throat. If you don't like the taste, add a bit of honey. When cooled down a bit, slosh it around at the back of your mouth before swallowing.
This was recommended by a dentist. He said chamomile is anti-inflammation and lessens pain. It worked great for me when I had a sore throat and another time when a few mouth ulcers were torturing me.
I can remember my Mum giving me lemonade that she had heated in a pan on the cooker. It always seemed to work for me. (Pity I grew up and started putting vodka in the lemonade )
