Traditional remedies for cold and sore throat

Hi all,

Just got a cold on Valentine's . After three days of lemon tea with tons of honey and cough drops I was looking for something different.

I was trying to avoid some Portuguese traditional recipes to cure colds and sore throat like chewing cloves , does anyone have more recipes or ideas that might help?

Thanks !

Put vics vapo rub on your feet...put the socks over them...in 5 mins its gone. better to do this in bed...as it has a very relaxing soothing effect. footsoles can absorb oils.

Thanks ! I heard this one before but only for children who couldn't stop coughing during the night! I will surely try!

Salviatee does wonders for a sore throat. You have to "Gurgeln" (what ever that may be called in English).

The cough drops you can by at the pharmacy with Lidocain are also very good.

Is this serious? Because if it is, I'm sure enough gonna try it too next time I catch a cold.

make a tea of scallion root and ginger. you can add honey for taste- it will take any cough right out of you!

oh, and great idea for the feet and vicks, we do that too!

oil of oregano on the feet with socks after is great for fever...

article I read

Thanks Istebraq!

I had learned this from a friend also, she said her kid only stopped coughing with this method. I wonder if there is any specific age for kids to use this substance, can 2 year old use this?

If you're one of those who absolutely cannot sleep with socks on, apply Vicks and then stick your feet into a Coop bag. Works for me.

Thanks Tilia.

Should I find it in an organic shop - the salvia?

Gargel, you gargel and gurgel and then cogh, what a mess.

Thanks Amaraya!

This is the first time I hear of this oil, just amazing! And there are more applications for it!

How do you use the garlic? I ́m afraid I just can't chew it as it is as difficult as the clove ! Do you actually eat it?

Thanks !

yea- the oil of oregano is amazing. but use only a bit it can be very strong, but it works wonders really!

best of luck!

That is one of those urban legends that has never been proven but what the hell if it works for you it can't do much harm.

Bolognese sauce? Beats rubbing it on your feet or sticking it in your ears or whatever the prescribed methods might be...

The best thing for sore throat :

take 10 tsp honey, add to it ginger juice (grind it), and grinded holy basil leaves. heat this mixture a bit. Have 1 spoon every 2 hours and dont drink water over it immediately.

The sore throat will be gone in a day, and it tastes quite good
