Traffic Ticket in Switzerland

I recently rented a car in Switzerland and later received a letter from the rental company that I got a traffic ticket, but no ticket. Having called them they were not able to provide any information about it, what for or where...

Is there some administrative website where I can look this up? I have a ticket reference number.

Thanks.

Welcome to the forum.

Are you being billed by the rental company? If so, they will have to supply you with details of the ticket. If they don't, contest the charge and don't pay. They have to justify the charge to you.

If you are being billed by the authority that issued the actual ticket, you should have some information about what you are supposed to have done (date, time place, offence, etc.)

I got a bill from the rental company for Administrative fee. As the email below explains this is for providing my information to the law enforcement agency for a traffic fine. I did not receive the actual fine from Swedish authorities.

As I've read in many forums, by the time the fine reaches the U.S. it's overdue. So to avoid losing more money, I was wondering if it is possible to see or pay the fine online, as it is done for fines in New York.

The ticket will be sent to the address registered with the rental agency. You can ask them which canto issued this request to them. Tickets are local and are usually for overseas addresses outsourced. The fine you receive will have additional admin charges from this agency.

Get a map out, check out where Sweden is.

Then check out where Switzerland is.

Then check out the name of this forum.

Are you in the right place for advice?

I didn't know Swaziland issued speeding tickets.

Don't confuse the issue!

What's not to understand about this?? This applies whether it was Sweden or Switzerland...

Sorry, Switzerland, not Sweden...

I have twice received these notices from car rental agencies. But 40 months later, the fines did not arrive. I figured that the agency could not be bothered to do more that request my address from the car hire firm.

Much more polite than the DC parking ticket ( I was not even in DC on the date in question). They threatened to send a bounty hunter. I called them to explain - it was pointless. I made some inquiries - turned out to be a false invoice scam.

So, is there a way to see traffic fines online?

No you have to write to the city where the offence was made.
