I will be relocating from California to Basel (with my work) over the summer. I'm a passionate trail and mountain runner; are there any trail running groups in the Basel area? I recognize that Basel is quite flat amidst a very mountainous country! Even if not in Basel, I'd love to get connected with the Swiss ultramarathon community. Thank you.

If your running is for building up a thirst that requires quenching with beer, these folks might interest you. There are also one or two "serious" runners in the Hash who do stuff like the Jungfrau Marathon.

Welcome (soon) and enjoy! I don't have club recommendations in Basel, but will suggest that you put the Swiss Alps 100 ultra on your bucket list.

Thanks everyone! Swiss Alps is is definitely on my list . . . Eiger, UT Monta Rosa and some of the Swiss Peaks races as well.
There are several trail runners in the Basel Running Club, which is primarily German speaking and less expat filled than the Dragons, depending on what you're looking for. The majority of the members do focus on road races, but we've been represented at Swiss Alps, Madrisa, Eiger, Jungfrau, etc.
This isn't a knock on the Dragons - I've never run with them. Just providing an option.
