The Online Transalators Babel fish etc , require us to type the Text in and this is very cumbersome for long letters

Is there a device or software available wherein i can Scan the letters received in German and get them converted to English .
If the quality of Google translation is adequate for your purposes, the trick is to improve the scanning by combining it with OCR.
If you are using a copy of the full Adobe Acrobat suite, there is an option to 'make text searchable' when you scan. Once you've done that, you should be able to copy-and-paste straight into other programs.
I love, love, love freetranslation.com You would need to cut and paste, but I use it all the time. Once I have translated the document or letter to another language, I cut and paste that and translate it back to my language to see if I'm OK.
