I am an Italian citizen in Zurich with a C permit. For the past few years, I worked for a Swiss employer, and I have therefore accumulated vested benefits from the 2nd pillar in their pension fund. I have left my employment on 31.12.2024 and I am now requested to move the vested benefits into a new fund. However, I am now employed by a US employer as ANobAG, and I do not have a 2nd pillar fund (it’s not required in this case), I only have an “extended” 3rd pillar. My previous employer says that if I don’t send them the details of a new vested benefits account where to move the funds to, they will automatically transfer them to the “UBS Vested Benefits Foundation”. What are my options? Thanks!

Talk to your/other banks and see what they offer in the way of vested benefits accounts. Not much else you can do for 2nd pillar far as I know.

My bank is UBS so I doubt they will compete with themselves. I have heard that, e.g., VIAC and Finpension offer vested benefits account. Do you know if these are solid choices? I have VIAC for 3rd pillar but didn’t do anything with them for 2nd pillar or life insurance or similar.

Any bank does, mine is on ZKB.
As an Italian OP should be able to open one at his desired bank.

I parked everything on VIAC at the end, but I am considering moving to Finpension
