Any experience with this insurance? Does the standard insurance already cover any costs abroad? What does it actually provide on top of the standard insurance? These prices seem really low, it makes me suspicious. How is that possible? Would this insurance be enough for a trip to USA? I see this insurance grants you the european health insurance card, so it has to be good?
Hi all. I have the classic insurance with Assura for 200 CHF / month. I travel a lot and each time I wonder what would happen if I got sick or injured. I know that Assura offers additional travel insurance Mondia (5 CHF / month) and Mondia Plus (6 CHF / month).
Update: I called Assura hotline and they said that the standard insurance covers abroad up to 2x of how much it would cost in Switzerland (precisely, in the Canton of your residence). If you have Mondia, they will cover all costs. So I guess Mondia is particularly good for trips to USA.

It only talks about EU and EFTA countries, where the 2x the Swiss costs provided by the standard insurance is typically enough.
So I'm not sure about the real benefits of this insurance, except the annullation part of the Mondia Plus.
