I have searched the forum for a few hours and decided to open this topic as I was not able to find meaningful answers to my questions.
I am EU with B work permit who just started working in Zurich.
My fiancée - EU national (soon to be wife - we will be getting married in our home country early next year) currently employed in another EU country - the plan is that she will join me in Zurich over the course of next couple/few months. This of course mainly depends on how long it will take for her to get a job here.
In order to make this process as painless as possible, I do have couple questions and options to make this happen:
1. Does it make any sense for me to register her as my partner now to get her a work permit before she starts looking for a job? I have read seen some posts saying and heard that an actual valid work permit would help her with the recruitment process (I understand this is mostly dependent on the type of permit she would have).
What kind of a permit my fiancée would be most likely to get? Is there any chance that she will also get a B permit as my partner?
2. Get married earlier (this year) and then apply for a permit for my wife - which most likely would be the 'B' permit right away right?
I do have a sufficient salary to support both of us.
I am trying to figure it out what would be the best option to bring her over here from time/effort perspective.
I would really like to hear your comments / suggestions / opinions on how to approach this situation!
Thanks!
In which EU country is your wife currently employed?
How high is your salary (you say it is sufficient for 2 people)?
Unless you are from Romania or Bulgaria (still quota on the permits), there is not much of an issue. Most likely she will get a B permit as well when she gets here and can apply for jobs
You don’t seem to understand - a Swiss resident permit is also a work permit for EU nationals.
" I would like to work in Switzerland. What are the conditions for getting a work permit?
Nationals of an EU-27/EFTA state only need a residence permit: this residence permit doubles as work permit . However, a residence permit will only be issued if you have a written confirmation of employment (e.g. the contract of employment containing details of the duration of employment and the number of working hours)."

Ignore the rest of that since she’ll be here as your dependent and not coming here with an employment contract in hand.
So whether she registered as being a resident as your partner or your wife doesn’t make any difference. All she needs to do if/when she finds a job here is take her employment contract down to your gemeinde/commune admin office to show them she’ll now be working.
As for family reunification what’s needed is here:

She’ll get the same permit type as you since she’s your dependent.
