Trolley coin miracle

Was this aimed at you then?

Who says that Baht has a low value?!

Especially 10 baht! That could get you 5 trips on the bus!!

Whereas 2chf doesn't even get you 1 trip on the bus!!

ok, granted.. in different cities..

ok ok.... I can't have you mad at me now too !!! geez.... or jeez even !

I'm gonna go away and read up on baht exchange rates.

Sometimes, especially when the mechanism on the trolley is worn, you can insert the coin part way so that the interlock releases but so that you can still retrieve the coin. It takes a bit of luck as it doesn't work with the newer mechanisms that are much tighter. It also takes a fair bit of precison as well and may take several attempts.

Tie four baskets together and drag them along behind you on a piece of string.

it seems strange to me that people go through the trouble of carrying strange coins from different countries around just to use on these shopping carts, when they could just as easily carry around a 2 fr coin (which has can be used for things other than just unlocking shopping carts)

But that's just it. If I carry around a US quarter, I can be sure that I won't use it for something else, and so I'll have it when I want it for unlocking a shopping cart.

i see what you mean and you could also go further by saying that using the quarter frees up your 2 fr to be used in the store. but this requires far too much planning in advance for somebody like myself. either i have the 2 fr on me, or i'm going to try to fit everything into a handbasket. you would be surprised by how much i could fit into a handbasket.

In fact having only a basket helps me save a lot of money as I have to plan carefully and really just concetrate on the necessities and don't end up buying lots of additional stuff spontaneously.

then how will you ever discover the joys of red peppers stuffed with tuna?

or brie stuffed with truffles

or...

hey, those ARE my essentials.

sigh.... i like a good joke. whad'z'it say?

I don't "go through the trouble of carrying" the migro dummy with me. What happens is I DON'T go through the trouble of going through my coin purse and removing unwanted, unusable coins (and fluff). The point is that the unusable coin is well.... unusable thus always there. Since you can spend a CHF2 coin, it's not always there.

"Please bring it back. Idiot"

Fab idea!

I have also seen this in use- just not recently.. (or in this country.. )

.. and the worst thing is, that my one from Coop, doesnt fit into the migros trolley(!) Thats just plain evil!!

i'd never be mad at you, you're way too sexy

it just goes to show you how seldom some handbags get the crap cleared out of them

If I don't have the right size coin, I find this is a good fall back (one size fits all) - normally have one in my back pocket for emergencies.

Oh dear. Plastic.

I find it so difficult to source the 50 pence pieces these days, but luckily enough the 1/2 ounze Kruggerand (dia. 27.77mm) is a fair alternative for the 2chf (dia. 27.40mm).

Fortunately, there's always some to be found in bottom of the boot in the Maybach, or so my driver tells me. I often imagine the face of the poor chap who has to push the trolley back from my four parking spaces after I've left the supermarket trolley on the parking lot.

I remain a toff with a heart.

Harry

is that a picture of you in your "going out" costume in front of that car?

sweet

what car????

Agreed ... what car? I've spent several hours have a good long hard stare at the pic and have yet to locate the car.

Just to make sure I'm going back again to have another look .... I may be gone some time.

Where is that coin from? I was given one as part of my change last time I shopped in France? Edited - just Googled it - so Thailand. I wonder how often unsuspecting punters get 'done' in this way?
