UBS Bank Card

On a Trip overseas, HK, Singapore, Japan, UBS maestro Debit

card is refusing to allow cash withdrawls, UBS says accounts fine sod off.

Anyone else having issues?

Hi,

the maestro card needs to be enabled on UBS online to be used outside CH.

In some countries the bancomat only reads 4 digits for the PIN, while we have 6 digit PINs.

Try in the bancomat of the largest bank you find, e.g. HSBC.

yeah it was the mickey mouse BANKS.. like Standard Chartered, BOC (HK), etc and others that simple would not work with the UBS card...

AS the other kind person suggested.... I hobbled on over to an HBSC ATM

and voile $$$$$.... cheers..

PS: I did have worldwide turned on

Thanks

Did they actually display the Maestro symbol? Although it's related to, and the symbol looks very much like Mastercard, many banks abroad do not accept Maestro cards at all.

And as previously mentioned, there are some/many parts of the world where you'll get completely stuck if you use a 6-digit PIN, which I know is possible on some Swiss cards (although I've never used it). Be handy to take along your card reader when travelling, to change it to a 4-digit one if you encounter this issue.
