I’m surprised! I was trying to get tickets for the kids and me to see an England women’s match, and all three (France, Netherlands and Wales) are sold out. I figured it would be easy, given the previously lower attendance at women’s tournaments, but Switzerland seems to be breaking that pattern.
Too late for today but resale/return tickets are released every day at 11am on the UEFA site. We picked up two tickets for today’s game on Tuesday. Try in the morning for Wednesday’s game
I was checking/refreshing the tickets page this morning for England v France. A few isolated seats did pop up but not 3 together or nearby, and they were mainly in the France supporters stands.
I imagine it is more enjoyable to see the match with the kids – yet, I don’t expect to see hooliganism on the women’s tournament…oder?
I am volunteering in Fan Zone in Thun and it is great to see so many families from Scandinavia for now (we had Iceland vs Finland match) and a lot of jung girls (even local) who play football.
And the fan walk from city center to the stadium of match day was great to see. No hooligans…and we didn’t expect them
We have both the Norway and Denmark teams staying in Neuchâtel and it was lovely to see all the fans waiting to see the Norwegian team as their bus arrived back at the hotel from training just now.
The teams are both training at local grounds and had a couple of open training sessions which were packed with young supporters and lots of young girls in particular.
I don’t associate hooliganism with women’s football but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist.
The fact that we’ve never heard of it would suggest that it’s pretty rare, if it even happens at all.
I imagine there are some die hard football hooligans who would like to cause trouble whatever, they don’t are about the football they’re just there for the fights.
We saw lots of fans, mostly families and couples, from the Netherlands and Wales in Luzern this morning, based on the colorful bucket hats and orange shirts.
The popularity of women’s football and women’s sports in general is certainly on the rise.
Spain were unlucky, they played far better than England throughout.
I really hate shoot-outs. England was outclassed for at least 90 out of the 120 minutes and then they win on penalties. Such a sad end to an otherwise excellent tournament.
Indeed, I was yesterday with my wife at the match and it was full.
nice atmosphere I can say
Contrast that to the national emergency that played out in the media for WEEKS in 2002 over whether David Beckham’s hurty second metatarsal would have jeopardised his place in the 2002 World Cup. The drama.
So much for protecting your players. What an idiotic decision.
Pretty sure they didn’t do it on a whim. ![]()
If that were true she wouldn’t have played against Wales. England’s victory must have been clear even before that game started as Wales had already lost 3:0 against the Netherlands, and 4:1 against France. At the very least Bronze should have been replaced for the second half after the first half ended with 4:0, England’s qualification for the KO-phase was a given.
Putting players at risks like this when it’s completely unnecessary is inexcusable.
Player Millie Bright however took the other route, she withdrew herself from the EM because she wouldn’t have been able to play 100% all through the tournament. This is the laudable decision.
Sorry, I should have realised you have full access to the England team’s medical records so you can make an informed decision apparently better than the team’s medics, and dismiss them as idiots.
