UK book retail

I never expected to make this question.

I came across a rather curious book from Manchester Uni Press and it’s only available via indiepubs, Waterstones, Blackwell’s, and bookshop dot org.

Apparently, the paper version of the book is not available in the used market. All other sellers online look like dropshippers.

So, any suggestion?

Do you have an ISBN?
Perhabs order from your local bookstore.

Wait for the blockbuster movie

Yes, there’s an ISBN. I’ll check in Aarau, there’s no bookstore in this dormitory town.

Thanks

Is there any particular reason you don’t want to order from a UK retailer?

I order from Blackwells frequently. Free shipping to Switzerland. Never had a problem.

Alternatively, a bricks-and-mortar bookshop in Zürich specializing in English language books is Pile Of Books.

If the book is very ‘curious’ perhaps they would not have it in stock, but on occasion the owner has been able to track down some pretty niche titles for me. Perhaps worth a phone call to see if he could help.

No, no particular reason. That was plan A

Free shipping? That sounds great.

I made the switch to ebooks about 15 years ago and could not be happier. Yes it takes some getting used to, but once your brain gets over the lack of paper you quickly adapt. The clear upside is that you can get any book instantly, an with the Kindle Scribe and Remarkable you can even annotate with a pen, look up words etc..

become member of the local library, and ask for it. And/or use Libby, associated to it.
