UK elections

Anyone who isn’t au fait with it could do a lot worse than going back and watching Yes Minister and Yes Prime Minister. Sums up both the vagaries of ministerial postings and the inability of ministers to actually get anything implemented through the civil service.

Big Nige replacing Richard Tice as Leader of Reform UK.

It’s incredible that a niche TV show on issues of the day made decades ago still resonates today.

Oh No !!! - Two of the worst populists standing for Election this year, Nigel Farage does a U-turn and not only becomes leader of the Reform Party ( again ) but now says he will be standing for election in the forthcoming General Election while across the pond we have ( Nigel’s chum ) Donald Trump as the 1st convicted felon ( former President of the USA ) to stand for re-election to the White House.
The only saving grace in all this, is this will be Nigel’s 8th attempt to run for MP in the British Parliament, so hopefully he will ‘come a cropper’ again failing to get enough votes to win.

At this rate I’m expecting ‘Spitting Image’ to come out with their own take on events, somewhere along the lines of Whoops Political Apocalypse !!!

It’s a testament to the writers… and to the establishment itself, that has remained virtually unchanged 40 years later.

And the politics too. At least pre-Brexit, the Eurosausage episode could have been current affairs…

Who can forget Guy Verhofstadt’s joke that maybe only Nigel Farage can save us now.

Just love this parody of Nigel Farage in Depeche Mode, mode complaining that he just couldn’t get enough votes to become an MP in the past.

Or vanilla… what a waste of a milkshake.

It has the shape of a banana, but then again so does he.

It’s banana. The MacDonalds vanilla is paler (according to their UK website).

It’s not really food but still a waste.

This is the one thing that would spice up the US Presidential election, namely having “The Donald” being plastered by a milk shake as he leaves the courthouse or Presidential election rally.

Not really if it’s banana, that’s the worst milkshake flavour ever.

Burn the Heretic! Banana is the best, same for Ice Cream. I remember when I was a kid there was one banana flavoured ice-cream lolly I used to love but I think they stopped it.

TBF it was artificially flavoured, and it’s notoriously difficult to synthesise banana flavour. These days it’s almost impossible to find any banana ice cream, so we sometimes make our own.

One time we did a vegan lactose-free version using coconut milk as the base. Absolutely delicious.

Banana spilt.

I’m not sure I’d call her a hero. She has been arrested for suspected assault.

In the eyes of the law, it doesn’t matter what the liquid was - it’s the intent that is important.
Would it be OK to spit in Jeremy Corbyn’s face for his anti-Semitic or would that be going to far - because of the substance, or because you support Labour?

Two European politicians have been murdered in the last few years.
Let’s not glorify violence against politicians - at any level.

Sounds excessively pious to me, he was milkshaked by a girl. End of.

Not end of. It was against the UK laws.

Your views do not tally with both Labour and Conservative MPs who equally condemned the actions.

Pim Fortuyn, in the Netherlands had cake thrown at him at one point. He was murdered at a later point.

I think this applies to all the party leaders at this point not just Starmer.

The debate was totally pointless although I liked the woman asking the first question, shame they didn’t actually answer it.
