Found via englishforum.forumotion.com - I hope the link works! It links to a forum thread with the title “How to Pay Voluntary National Insurance Contributions from Abroad”:

Just an update here. I filled in the CF83 and sent it off at the beginning of January.
It said that I should expect an answer in November, but I actually got an answer mid-March, so a lot quicker than expected. The answer gave me the years that I could pay voluntary contributions for and how much for each year.

I then called the number on the letter to find out how voluntary payments would impact my pension. The call was well worthwhile and the person who answered my call was extremely helpful and gave, what I hope was, good advice.

The whole process turned out to be a lot easier than I expected. Now to see if actually making the payments is as easy.

Yes, I always found HMRC very helpful and professional!

They send me a reminder every year and I make the payment from the best way to exchange chf/gbp account at the time and it’s really easy

I still have a UK account so set up a monthly direct debit.

I had to close my UK bank account when they were trying to get rid of overseas accounts with minimal activity
