Ultimate Mexican Restaurant?

Hello all!

I am looking for an exceptional Mexican restaurant or American!!!

Anywhere in Switzerland

Looking forward for all your feedback!

http://elmexicano.ch/ the Bern one is good. I don't know the Basel restaurant.

Restaurant Indiana, Bern is a "Tex-Mex"/Mexican-American Restaurant

Good job this is the first time anyone has ever asked that question.

Edit:

I went to one Tex-Mex place last week - the restaurant is now divided into 2, one serving Mexican food and the other American food - with a big wall in between.

That's a cover!

They have a tunnel underneath, sneaking in and out tacos, burritos and re-fried beans!

What was odd is that all the workers on the American side were Mexican, and all the workers on the Mexican side were Guatemalan.

I'm pretty sure it's said "Guacamolean" or something!

Anyway, Guacamolean, Guatemalan, Guatever, that's all pretty much exotic and suspicious to me, i'm going to report that to the Swiss authorities!

That should help my naturalization process.

Interesting that you ask...

I've been on a quest of finding many interesting restaurants lately for a food mobile app that I’m building ( http://www.presto.ch/ ), and recently I came across this Mexican restaurant that really got my attention. I haven’t tried it out yet, sadly, but they look good, reviews are good and they’re not expensive at all. I’m definitely going there as soon as I have the chance. The place is called La Taqueria ( http://www.lataqueria.ch/ ).

Bon apetit!

Tres Kilos in Seefeld, ZH. I come from California (though not Mexico, we do have pretty good Mexican food in Cali) and Tres Kilos one if the best I've had in the city.

New Mexican caterer has opened in Lausanne

http://molcajete.weebly.com

As the site specifies, this is NOT tex-mex, but purely Mexican food.

Such an uninspired name, 'The Mexican'

Even worse, like naming one's dog 'Dog'

That's better, molcajetes are those cool stone bowls with tripod feet, usually filled with some awesomely good salsa...but the place just does catering and is not an actual restaurant.

Luzern has this place, who's menu looks about as Mexican as I do:

http://www.eldivino.ch/ ,

This place, who stole their name and logo from a Mexican beer, with an equally disappointing menu:

http://www.pacifico-luzern.ch/en/ ,

And this place, another terrible selection:

This place looks to be the only somewhat real Mexican option- with reasonable pricing and actual food like one might find in Mexico, sort of:

http://sombrerolatino.ch/speisekarte.html

But WTF, they close at 6:30pm...

My dream of going out for real Mexican food for dinner now crushed, I think i'll make camarones empanizados, along with margaritas, some black beans, mexi. rice, homemade flour tortillas, et al.

recipe to follow if I don't drink too many margaritas...

Tres Kilos in Seefeld is quite good. Big TV that is often tuned to football games or other sporting events. We went there during the Euro 2016. Very good burrito. Try it with a hefeweiszen. Dessert was also excellent there.

We like El Agave near Altstetten and Luna Mexicana in Thalwil.

My favourite in the country:

Also these guys near HB in Zürich:

I love Mexican food and really miss it from the U.S. so can't say I've found an exceptional Mexican restaurant in Switzerland. But El Agave near Altsetten is by far the best one we've had in Zurich / Switzerland.

I would second that. We were there for a friend's birthday last year and had an excellent time.

Other have mentioned it, but I am adding another recommendation for Tres Kilos in Seefeld. Their food is delicious and the atmosphere is very relaxed. You will love it!

And for when your ready to tackle braising carnitas in your oven at home- go to El Maiz http://www.elmaiz.ch in Zurich for the quality corn and flour tortillas, chipotles, refried beans, tomatillos, and lots of hot sauce. Buen Provecho!
