Hi
Bathtub in my bathroom is blocked quite often nowadays. It wasn't the problem since long long time. Now it happens frequently.
I have used 'Potz Xpert Power Gel' product from Migros, but that's not much effective.
Any advice to get this problem solved ?
Which products are good from Migros / Coop etc ?
or recommendation of plumber ( around Oerlikon, Zurich ).
Thanks in advance for suggestion !
Ask your landlord to get a plumber, or buy a drain cleaning tool from the DIY shop. Just using chemicals is not very good for the environment, and you probably have lots of gunge in the pipes from previous users.
Most likely hair buildup - especially if one or more of the bath/shower users have long hair. Over time you end up with a sludge of hair and soap. A real mess and will block the drain.
I find you need to remove the hair first (starting point). Use tweezers (the longer the better) to get down into the trap and bring up the mess. If you do not have longer tweezers, use needle-nose pliers. Get out what you can this way. It might be enough.
You can also take a piece of metal wire (I use a wire clothes hanger - cut off the long piece and turn up the end as a bit of a hook). You can get down much further with the wire. Do some fishing and you should pull up some hair etc.
After this is done, run water down and see if that is enough. If not, I prefer to just use a toilet plunger. You need to block the over-flow opening. I use a wet cloth held over the opening to create a seal. So you need a second person to help - one creating the seal and the other to do the plunging (remember, you need to run the water to create a seal over the drain).
Good luck and let us know how it works out.
This is what I do with the wire. My wife and I both have long hair so I find this is required once every couple of years. A bit on the grosse side but does the trick and much better for the enviroment.... =)
