Unemployed Insurance and job Termination

Hello good day

First of all wish me good luck as its my first post

I live in Rhine with C-permit and worked in Basel for 4 years. During the corona time the company laid off employees and I lost my job. I registered with RAV and my unemployment benefit was activated and keep applying for job. I found a job in Lörrach (DE) and keep getting unemployment benefit as salary was low compared to this benefit. My RAV supervisor mentioned its my self choice to work in Germany. But I continue as I want to stay in line by getting professional experience. Now after 2 years my line manager mentioned we have no new project and want to terminate my work contract by the end of this year. I want to know following:

1. Does it has any impact if company terminate me or give resignation?

2. Unemployment benefit will also be not affected if I resign?

3. I already apply for citizenship in Basel, will there also be any impact?

4. I heard in Germany there are strong Union laws and support, Company can directly terminate anyone by just telling we do not have new projects???

Thanks for your guidance and support

Best Regards

Good luck.

I wouldn't resign and keep in mind that a 6 months notification period is very generous.

Regarding the Union, I don0t know. Best check if your employer has a "Betriebsrat".

Depends on your contract in Germany but generally it is indeed a jurisdiction which offers more protection to the workers than CH.

I would ensure you have a full understanding of your rights before resigning.

One can live in Switzerland, work in Germany, and get Swiss RAV to top up the salary? That's pretty sweet!

How many days of your "rahmenfrist" or insurance money do you got left ?

150 Days

Yes, the important thing is that you live in Switzerland.

When my employer started letting people go back in 2009, the Swiss residents were let go first, and he mentioned that it was because they would get Swiss unemployment, far higher than what their Italian resident colleagues would get.
