Is there anyone that have been to the RAV in Basel recently??

I went yesterday for the first appointment and it was horrible!

I brought someone translating for me but this didn't help at all......she did not explain me anything, she was rude and impolite with me and with my translator, saying that she did not have the time to wait for the translation!!!

Now I have the "Antrag auf Arbeitslosenentschädigung" to fill in and I have no idea on how to do that or by which date I have to give it to the office!

Do you know a place where to go to have more information also regarding how does the process really works (not the basic that I can find in many web page and that I already know)???

Your ex employer should help you fill in the form. You should have all the paperwork delivered at the LATEST your first day of unemployment,

In theory yes, the law says you must apply for any work, you could just as easily apply for a brain surgeon's job, however you won't get an interview. If the pay is below 70/80% of your old salary they have to top up 70/80% of the difference so they won't be any hurry to force you to work for low pay!

I went there on Monday to register. The lady was very nice to me, explained quite a lot of stuff and took all my documents. I speak German fluently maybe that made rhings easier for me. I went back today for the first meetng with the case worker, he was very good and very polite. I went on to register at the Kasse, no issues at all. i had not filled out the form, the guy at the count explained everything to me, I went out, filled the form, went back to another person and got everything done. took me about 45 minutes in all.

But what do you mean with register at the Kasse?

The process is:

1. Register at the Rav ( AWA Utengasse 36) ;

2. They give you an appointment where they ask you to bring all the documents;

3. At this first appointment ( AWA Hochstrasse 37) they register you in their system and give you the formular "Antrag auf Arbeitslosenentschädigung";

4. you have to wait untill they let you know when you will have your first appointment with your consultant;

Is that right??

I choose the OeAK as Arbeitslosenkasse, as they asked for in the list of documents to bring, but nobody told me that I have to register there too...do I have to do that??? Or do they gonna help me to fill in the Antrag auf Arbeitslosenentschädigung?

I am really schoked on how this works!

Anybody with basic German skills will be able to help you fill in the form.

It's fairy Obvious Name, Address , DOB, details of Jobs in last 2 years, reason for leaving etc.

You have chosen the OeAK they will control all the paperwork & require 1 year of payslips to calculate your claim.

It's all pretty simple.

Which form do you need to fill in?

I have an English transaltion of the Main form. I can scan this to PDF and sen this to you.

You will need to provide the last two years records of employment as they base the payments on this. If you have worked less than two years, then your entitlement is reduced.

Here in Zurich, they now send you on an English introduction course. Half a day explaining everything how it works... then a German test in the afternoon. You get lunch vouchers too.

You should ask if they have a RAV person that speaks English, mine does. I did the first meeting in German the last one in German then we switched to English.

btw: all the forms are available here where you can fill them in on the computer: http://www.treffpunkt-arbeit.ch/down...re/arbeitslos/ I had a problem with my PDF (free) software so switched to Adobe and it worked better.

There is also a form that your employeer(s) for the last two years have to complete.

I also had that,

Its tricky.. luckily my wife had a day off or it would have been a total washout.Try to ask a friend or spouse e.t.c.... having said that.. you dont have to be that fluent, it just threw me by the translator thing.I guess if you are in aerospace a translator would be worthwhile. Also i have heard some are really nice and try a bit of english and then you get the others... who dont. best of luck (sorry if unhelpful )

I have an appointment at the RAV Office on Thur 27th Sept, 2012. I do not speak or understand German. I am not looking for financial support from the RAV as I have come to Basel recently after my marriage and have never contributed to social security. I am seeking other support to find a job.

Is there anyone who can accompany as a translator? I am totally fine with paying money for the same. Any other suggestions are also most welcome.

Please let me know what time your appointment is. I can only do in the afternoon as I am already translating in the morning. If you like, pm me your phone number and I will get in touch. I charge 60.00 francs per hour for interpreting and have worked at RAV many times before.

Hi, I am filling the main unemployment benefit form, is a U1/E301 form required? I'm changing jobs for the second time in Switzerland and have been here for 5 years.

One last question.

I am a bit stuck on the question 21 in the form:

"Are you still insured with the occupational pension fund of your most recent employer under the BVG (Occupational Old-Age and Invalidity Insurance Act of 1982)?"

I confirmed with my employer that I will not move the funds to a different insurance company, nor extract the cash, I guess this means I answer yes to the question?

Bit slow with this stuf...

Have the same issue.. the answer is No ( after i call Unia). Your previous employer will stop paying you your LPP. The funds will be .. blocked till you find a new job.
