If you are already here, call the university and ask them what average is required and/or what their general requirements are?

UZH is on the top 60 in the world while St Galen University is not even on the top 500: http://www.shanghairanking.com/World...itzerland.html . If you are looking for the quality, you know what you should pick up

Your location says Zurich. Means you will finish with a Swiss Matura, which opens every door at every Swiss University.

Well lookie, if you switch that ranking to Economics, St. Gallen is somewhere between 100 and 150. Funny enough, although St. Gallen is THE elite training center for managers and everything financial, it is surpassed even by the ETH Zurich, in economics, mind you, which renders that ranking somewhat questionable, in my book anyway.

TLG, some questions:

1. What do you intend to do after finishing your undergrad?

2. If the answer is "work in industry", do you intend to remain in Switzerland or do you prefer working elsewhere?

3. What are your expectations from the undergrad programme? (e.g. Good teaching? Competent professors? Skills?)

4. How proficient are you in German?

I wouldn't go that far, but if you say so I would trust your assessment

Unisg is very prestigious, especially the master in international management.

But if you just want to work in a bank I would go with zürich at least for the bachelor in economics, I know people are able to find internships in banks even after the bachelor in case you want to take a break or whatever (or also if you have curricular internships).

These are the requirements for foreign high school diplomas: http://www.swissuniversities.ch/en/s...ies/countries/

Agree

But then, if you are not at that level yet you wouldn ́t know, would you?

UniSG also offers Bachelor degrees in English - the student needs to complete just two classes in German by the end but many start the course with little or no German. They have periodic open days and it is quite an impressive option.

They admit that the first year of the course is extremely challenging to pass but after that it eases up a bit.

HSG has the prestige because of the MBA, and it's not just the quality of the studies, but (as with any MBA) it's also about the networking. People will also go there because everyone will also go there.

MBAs and pre-grad or post-grad studies are different animals though, as in the purpose is different, the focus is different, teaching is different, etc.

So it's quite normal, if not expected, that ranking might be different depending on if we're talking about the one (MBA) or the others.

Also about prestige, employer preference, etc, it depends. I've heard so many different things from so many people that it doesn't even matter any more. Just study what you think will give the most and fits with you as a person the most, and then while in uni build yourself to become a good graduate with experiences, network, and even grades.

Even if there is a "right" uni to select that would get you to an interview, but moving past that is all about what you did with your time until that interview.

Really? I think you've got the cart before the horse there. I was in the second-ever full-time MBA ten years ago, and selected the program because of the (apparent) prestige of the overall school at the time. The MBA trades on the HSG's reputation, not the other way around.

Their MBA has no tradition at all and barely make up the international rankings. That being said, I friend of mine did his exchange semester there and said the quality is very good.

My bad then, I guess there is way too much chatter in my environment on the MBA and it probably skewed my opinion

Nope, it has the prestige because of their MA/MA degrees. The MBA is okayish, but nowhere near as competitive as others in Europe, let alone beyond. I'm sure they like to think it is top notch , but they're wrong

OP, either uni is fine and future employers at least in CH won't care much whether your degree is from ZH or SG. I recommend you go to information/open days at both unis though - St. Gallen isn't for everyone and it has a, well, 'special' group of students not everyone may feel comfortable with...
