But as you know there are other ways to unlock it yourself. Following the right user guide and having basic computer knowledge is enough to unlock your phone in 20 minutes.
Cheers
[edited] last heard, Orange still doesn't require a code...
The way the offical unlock works is that your system provider (Orange) sends the unlock request/order to Apple with your IMEI number. Then, this IMEI number gets put into a system at Apple as an offically unlocked iPhone. [edited] for Swisscom, see PapaGoose's post below (you'll get a code?) Then, you will need to connect to iTunes to update/refresh the OS. Upon completion of this, you should see a congratulations screen in iTunes telling you that the phone has been unlocked.
No code! so there is no way Swisscom will send you a code via SMS. There is no such thing.
ps. On many many other phones, the unlock is done via a special code which usually also involves calling up a "secret menu." but this is not the case for iPhones.
"Dear Mr xxxx
Thank you for your enquiry.
Swisscom has asked Apple to deactivate the SIM lock on your iPhone. The SIM lock must now be removed after 24 hours by synchronising with iTunes. SIM unlocking instructions can be found at this link:
http://www.swisscom.ch/res/hilfe/mob...?languageId=en
You don't have to wait until you receive an SMS from Swisscom, this email is a replacement. After 24 hours you can follow the instruction under point 4 "synchronising".
If you have further questions we would be happy to answer them by e-mail, or give us a call on our toll-free Hotline on 0800 615 615.
We are available from Monday to Friday from 8:30 till 18:30 as well as Saturdays from 8:30 till 17:00.
Kind regards
Your Swisscom Team"
