UPC Cablecom launched a number of mobile phone packages in April 2014. They use Orange's network and now CC have started email their customers with some offers "only for existing customers". Anyone any experience of these?
I am in the process of looking for a phone and maybe ditching Orange, and I have to say the "subsidy" thing is completely crap.
They overprice the phone by a LOT, and then they make you stay for 2 years at least. If you chose any sensible package that is under 100Fr you still have to pay about 300Fr for the "subsidised" phone and if you want a phone "for free" you're giving them upwards of 100Fr a month easily.
I'm turning 27 in a bit, and reviewing the offerings of the providers I was shocked by the whole thing. Xperia Z3 offered at 799Fr when you can easily get it for 150 less, and the Z3 Compact is offered with a premium of about 200Fr.
If they're subsidising the obscene premiums, I don't think they're subsidising anything after all.
And don't get me staretd with Swisscom and their unlimited internet at dial-up speeds.
UPC seems to have a nice aggressive offering with 16h of talk time for 29Fr/month and 160+h for 49Fr.
There are good deals to be had. When I upgraded my orange young to the 29CHF per month contract (unlimited orange calls,unlimited texts, 1GB data) I got a Nexus 5 (was 399CHF at the time) for 1CHF.
From my personal experience, Orange sucks (both the network and the customer service) and (also from my personal experience), UPC sucks even worse, so I'm not sure why anyone in his / her right mind would choose that combination.
For the price, I guess. I get 60 min of calls, 60 SMS and 1GB on Orange for 20 CHF (2y commitment, no handset), which is an OK price for Switzerland if you don't call a lot (even though I would have 3 GB for that price in France). Data network from Orange is fine, voice is indeed so-so.
Is the Cabelcom better in services than Swisscom?I thought Swisscom is good value fora good price,but as I see and read your comments...hmm Iam paying too much for a phone abo...
You get good customer service from Swisscom, but their subscriptions are way too expensive. All three Swiss networks suck compared to those in many other countries. Large parts of the population regularly ends up on ancient GSM networks
Two spectacular football games Ireland vs Germany and Poland vs Scotland are on, yet I can watch the former one on German channel but the latter one is not even shown at all. Given all those 600+ channels full of mediocrity, I find it absolute blocks in terms of sporting channels quality. Whole package rubbish. Now I feel better when the rant is over!
My apologies that the Cablecom Mobile's been affected . In anger, I did not even bother to search for relevant Cablecom complaints corner so any closest thread became on receiving side. Scrolled thru all 600+ channels twice with no success.
Thank you dawiz,well customer service is ok,it took them 2 weeks to turn in on as I was moving.and then I got bill for 43chf for a plug in...so So slowly but surely iam thinking about moving to UPC..
