I am quite new in Switzerland and I am looking for good internet package.
I notice if I am taking DSL internet, I need to pay fixed network phone line around chf 25 per month. I hardly use a phone line so I think it will be wasted.
So I am looking for another option and found UPC cablecom. Their offer for Power Fiber Internet seems very good (very fast connection). Sorry if I ask a stupid question, do I still need fixed network phone line if I subscribe to UPC Cablecome power fiber internet? Or I just need to plug the modem on the wall (apartment which has UPC cablecom already) and then that's it?
Note that cablecom also receive 25 francs a month for line rental. It is normally included in the the nebenkosten. Cablecom will block the socket on request and you are then entitled to request a reduction in your nebenkosten.
What would happen if I make a contract for one or two years with cablecom and then I have to leave Switzerland? Do I have to pay for the whole time before leaving the country?
With cablemodem you don't need a phone line, you need a TV line. You don't have to pay for a phone line but you may need to pay to have a TV line installed.
never use UPC Cablecom. UPC customer service on phone are absolute abusive idiots. they advertise as cheapest but that comes with them overcharging on invoices, and not giving a damn about rectifying their mistakes and slapping a fine. I have never received such abusive service and will take to a omundman or lawyer for their abusive criminal activity. gladly pay more for other carriers. DO _NOT USE. Scam artists

I had a customer service rep scream abusive language at me and asking me 0who I thought I was, as I was asking him that for 4months they had been overcharging me on the invoice and never rectified.
I'm not a fan of international conglomerates, BUT: I've been with UPC since it was Redifusion in 1989. I have never had a problem with them. They offer a great service at a competive price...
I have similar issues with invoices and I can tell you, they have a truly mixed bag of people in CS, I have learned to simply hang-up and redial when I get one of those and 9 out of 10 the next call is a really nice person, helpful and very welling to correct any invoice wrongdoing with an extra added for the inconvenience.
well I think it depends on who you get on the other end of the line. I have had some bad experience with Germans. Especially if you ask them to repeat what they said because they speak so fast. Arrogant bunch
