Update of address, permit B

Good morning. I'm sorry that I opened a new thread but nowhere I didn’t find complete information.

Do I have to change my address in residence permit B? I always live in the canton of Zurich. In the municipal office, I heard that the canton of Zurich doesn’t change my address for permit because everything is in the computer system and on the paper registration card from the municipal office.

But on the forums I can see different opinions. Some write that I have to inform the migration office myself. The information is contradictory and I don’t know what is true. Could anyone from Zurich explain this to me? I need a person who always lives in the Zurich city. I noticed that information from other cantons and municipalities is not useful.

Thank you.

Go to the commune office with your permit, passport & rental contract and tell them that you have moved. They will do the change. In some communes you may have to take an appointment for the change.

So I did. At the commune office, everything is ok. I'm asking for the address in permit B. I have an old address in my permit. Kreisburo official in Zurich said me that this address in permit B doesn't change. I have seen other opinions on forums.

The biggest problem is the differences between the cantons. People from some cantons give advice to people from others. This is ridiculous. I need an opinion from someone from Zurich city.

I have one of those EU C permits with the address on it and had that changed when I moved.

Others here have told me this is apparently no longer necessary. So best just to give them a call and ask.

Wow, welcome to the Forum. You're aware that the cantonal authorities are the ones who make the final determination, not a bunch of strangers online? Our opinions can be useful but we don't make the final call.

And by the way, many of our members have lived in multiple cantons so just because the profile says Bern it doesn't mean they don't know anything about Zurich.

If the commune office says it's ok, it's ok. Why would you think a random Internet forum would know better than them?

Relax. It's fine.

@roegner

I sent an email to the Migrationsamt. Maybe I'll get an answer tomorrow.

I have an email from Kreisburo. The official wrote clearly: "You just have to change your address in kreisbüro”. But on forums people write different opinions.

Did you move within the city? Within the canton? Within the municipality? How long ago?

That seems clear to me. Did you register already ?

I moved two years ago and changed my address in Kreisburo. Only there, not at Migrationsamt. I'm changing my job now and I'm afraid that the old address in permite is a problem.

When we moved in our village 6 years ago I told both the commune admin office and Fribourg cantonal migration office. We both got new permits with our new address - and an invoice of course.

These differences between cantons are like differences between foreign countries.

So I have to wait for a response from my Migrationsamt.
