as other people also told, you should go asap to a urologist.
they are the ones that can actually study correctely the origin of the infection (when they occour so many times) by collecting urine from the bladder... and it is not painfull, the only pain you will fell is after and is really small, it is just a small discomfort in the bladder, because de catheter pushes the bladder entrance.
but if you fell any pain during the process they will give you some anestesia.
probably the waiting room will be full of couples in their 50-60, that go there to make sure the husbands do the routine checkup
Apparently it does - a doctor told me.
DId the doctor give a reason for this being a factor?
Probably, but it was quite a while ago and I just logged it amongst all the other pieces of information that are apparently of absolutely no use to me.
i walk barefoot all the time (at home) and I have no urinary infection history
don't forget to wash your underwear and towels at high temperature, also the bed sheets, and try to use some detergent without chemical components. In france they have now a brand without chemical components (Briochin).
and also do not exagerate with your cleanning, usually we tend to exagerate on that after the first infection and the body looses all their natural defenses, unless the doctor actually tells you to use a specific product. avoid anything like cleaning wipes and other products, just use normal soap. I don't have any problems with urinary infections, but I have friends that had recurrent infections because of "excess of cleanning" after the first one.
and good luck!
Okay. So I will add that idea to the file of health information that I have gathered from around the world. THis includes:
1. Noone should eat bananas during winter.
2. Women should only drink fluid at blood temperature.
3. Sitting on concrete will stop you from having babies.
I think it might have something to do with the temps of the concrete and flooring, if walking barefoot or sitting on sumfin. A urologist friend once told me bladder troubles can be triggered by nerve stimuli that body can't handle correctly (after repetitive infections that can easily happen), peripheral nerves stimuli can give one runny nose, others run to pee often, it depends. It does not mean all people catch a "bladder cold", but it might weaken body defense mechanism, should the bladder be already having some troubles with recent infections, (or ovaries, etc etc..). People react differently to different scenarios.
I like your list, btw. Frozen bananas in winter are ace . And, if one drinks water on bananas, apparently that works as a potent happy pill.
OK, so I thought I would write an update. I have had two more infections since my last post. I went to the doctor today and was pretty insistent that we do something different now. She just kept listing the things I should do. The conversation went something like this:
Her: Drink a huge amount.
Me: I do.
Her. Wipe front to back.
Me: I do.
Her: Use non-perfumed, pH neutral soap.
Me: I do.
etc etc etc
Anyway, I asked if there was any physical intervention possible (e.g. filling the bladder etc). She said as they couldn't see anything wrong (in my urine sample culture they found bacteria, but bacteria that would respond to any antibiotics they would prescribe/had an ultrasound last January and they didn't find anything unusual) so therefore any physical intervention would be unnecessary. Finally, she gave me a referral to a urologist. We'll see what he/she says...
Hello, just wanted to add a small contribution to this very useful thread (at least for us girls).
You have not mentioned any changes in nutrition , have you tried any new strategies (e.g. eliminating starch, gluten, processed food, eating "clean" food)? I have only had one severe episode of UTI (I went to the ob-gyn, he prescribed antibiotics, I took them, got a yeast infection, which I personally find even worse, then resorted to obsessive clean eating [*] and cleared up from both the UTI and the yeast infection within a week). By the way, my UTI case was not related to any sex habits, since it was during a long abstinence period.
[*] including green vegetables, fruits, steaks, " live" yogurt
I have a close friend who has resorted to running to the bathroom and taking antibiotics after having intercourse with her husband, so I can sympathise...
By the way, http://www.umm.edu/altmed/articles/u...act-000169.htm mentions some nutritional tips.
Thank you for the tips Of course for any health-related question, nutrition and diet shouldn't be ignored. I think overall I eat a balanced diet. I do have some things which could be considered bad for my problem (I eat enormous quantities of clementines and drink coffee). I picked up a leaflet outlining a couple of foodstuffs I hadn't considered, so will have a look at that closely later.
Do you drink plain tap water ?
I found that drinking bottled/mineral water was contributing to the problem, and plain tap water was a big improvement.
I'm pretty sure it was something to do with pH of the water making the urine slightly acidic or alkaline (not sure which)...
Oh, and another thing, try changing your brand of sanitary products. I found that they were a real problem...ended up with cotton/fabric/soft tissues and other things as a barrier against the skin - couldn't find any plastic-based 'disposable' brand that wasn't irritating...
Did the doc say anything about the bacteria? You can only have some amount, over the limit should be treated. That said, you might have developed an oversensitive bladder, which means the nerves will alert even if bladder is ok, or ask the urologist to take a test how well you actually empty your bladder when you pee, there is a residue test. If you don't fully empty it, then the infections are more likely to happen. Stuff also has more chance to happen when you hold your pee, you should be peeing 5x a day, I read somewhere. Infections are frequent right before the end of your cycle, too, you can grow yeast in your bladder, etc. I would cut out carbs and sugar, nothing, and see. Eliminate skinny pants, for a moment, too. Lubes can hurt, too, or what swisspea said.
I'll post it again. D-Manose sugar has changed the life of my wife, her mum and many of their friends. Seriously, try it !!!
Yes, I do.
I use whatever happens to be on special offer, so I use different brands anyway.
In the event you have not tried this treatment, here are the details that might be useful for the next situation.
The product is called NOROXINE 400 mg. The active ingredient is Norfloxacin.
Link (FR): http://www.vulgaris-medical.com/dict...s/noroxine-400
Norfloxacin is the antibiotic I take every time I get an infection, and I would like to avoid them at all costs - but thank you!
You get your chronic UTIs treated by your GP or ObGyn?
I've asked both, but neither of them seem to be able to do anything.

More suggestions in the comments of the article. Obviously. Probably, if you ask 1000 people, you get 1100 ways to cure that helped every single one of the 1000 you asked...
Just give up Oral Sex ... it is obvious isn't it? Bacteria in mouth transfered to urethra, bacteria multiply as they have no natural enemies... poisons produced by bacteria make patient feel ill.
