My wife is a US registered Nurse and just got her education/license/work experience verified by Swiss Red Cross. She took a year and passed French B2. SRK sent us an email saying the verification is complete and will register in swiss red cross once the remaining fee is paid (which we did) and now waiting for the official registration confirmation from SRK.
We are still in US and trying to find out ways to apply for jobs as a Nurse in Switzerland. Additionally, she is working on updating english and French version of CV and application letters for the same. Once ready, she will post her CV/Application letter to thelocal.ch, jobs.ch and indeed.com. Should we post French as well as English resume on the job portals?
Any help/pointers on how to find Nursing jobs in CH is appreciated.
For anyone trying to find out how long it took SRK to verify her qualification is about a year total and she took another year to pass French B2.
Without being here in Switzerland its a tough job to find work. Are you coming here to work? And where? If its the Fench part of Switzerland she should have no problem finding work. If not her lack of knowledge in German will make it difficult.
I am in the middle of this process now, they have sent me it back once to get my diploma notarised and told me then that everything was being processed- last week by email,and then today I got another letter asking me to send a copy of my marriage certificate and to do a police check. My friend has had a request for references but I haven’t had that yet. I’ve heard that they do this a lot so luckily I am well prepared...... Has your wife been asked for all of these things too?
There was a lot of back and forth and it took a year just for preliminary verification. However she was never asked for Police report or references. We do have everything prepared anyway since we are also doing it for UK and they ask for police report.
Really? I wonder why they have asked me then? Because my colleagues weren’t asked either! I must look shady or something on my CV photo !!! Or maybe it’s because I have a Muslim surname? Who knows !?!
I’ve done it now and it was just for the time which I have been in Switzerland they didn’t care about before .
Hi! Did your wife need to do any further training after verification to start practicing or did the Swiss Red Cross deem her (I assume) BSN as sufficient to practice? I am looking into having my US RN recognized in Switzerland once I graduate.
