Hello, I am from a EU country and I have recently graduated from a Swiss university (ETH). I have been given a 6 months L permit to look for a job. I am now in a weird situation where:
- I have this L residence permit until mid December. On it says "Aufenthalt zur stellensuche" and "Aufnahme einer erwerbstatigkeit ist meldepflichtig"
- I will most likely start a PhD at ETH in December or January of next year (I can't start before because of some issues of that specific lab I would join)
- I have found a temporary job at a tech company in Zurich and they would potentially hire me from August for 3-4 months until I start my PhD.
My questions are:
1) Can I just use my current L permit for this temporary work? The L permit would be valid for all the period of this temporary job.
2) If not, do i need a new L (I suppose) permit specifically for this temporary job? Or is it enough to just inform authorities?
Thanks!
In your other post you write you have been working here for a year already?
Well you do need a permit. However if I remember the directives correctly, L permits for 4 months or less (which is what you would get) are not subject to quotas and might not be subject to the order of priority either, so it should be no problem for your employer to get them. You most definitely won't have it it time for early August though.
You are EU. It’s really no problem. Take the Gemeinde your work contract and they’ll decide if your permit needs updating or not. When you have your PhD contract, give them that too.
Your potential employer will know the rules, ask them.
It clearly says on the permit what has to be done: "Aufnahme einer Erwerbstatigkeit ist meldepflichtig", "Starting a gainful activity must be reported".
As you are an EU citicen this is a mere formality. If you need another permit card or not will be decided by the authoroties.
For EU persons the rules are simple and well known: https://www.sem.admin.ch/sem/en/home...hweiz/faq.html
