Using a DVB-C box for cable channels

Lob this one is for you.

As a proud owner of a dreambox are you willing to say where you got it from and what you paid? I have been offered one for CHF 500 and am seriously thinking about it if the claims of an additional 180 channels including all the cablecom digital decoded are true. I would then get the Turkish and the English as well as the sport for more or less one years Cablecom subs...

that must be a 7020s? I have a DM500s - short on memory unless you are prepared to NFS the /var off the box

7020s is the best DB out there. You can run multiple images from USB sticks, for example, or from an installed HDD.

www.satshop.ch is where I got my DM500s from ..... http://www.satshop.ch/product_info.p...roducts_id=492 - 307 francs.

It's loaded with Gemini 3.1 image. Go over to www.i-have-a-dreambox.com for lots of information (mostly German).

I assume you want DigiTurk? Should be do-able with a decent sized dish and a multi-holder - and get 28e and 7e. There are also Turkish offerings at 42 east....

No Actually I want to get the full 200 channels that Cablecom broadcast down their pipe that you are otherwise not able to see

ah, you mean a -c model for cable? They do exist and are capable but I don't actually know what you can really really do with them.

You could try-before-you-buy? What does the seller say about his box? And why's he getting shot of it?

It is through a friend of mine who knows someone... My friend bought one and he now has 200 CC channels. I would like the same but am not happy about the CHF 500 so was wondering if anyone knew anyone else direct so to speak. Cut out the middleman...

DM500-C costs 307 francs from the same online store?

the IHAD website also has discussion of cable stuff, I believe...

Please let us know if this works out for you Richard, as I am interested how the box would bypass the CC scrambling

Hi,

Any news about this ?

have a ponce around www.i-have-a-dreambox.com - mostly in German and needs registration for the forums - but it could be worth it

German is really not my favorite language :-| I will try to catch some informations. Thanks

It can be done, but access to the information is all in German . The forums is where you will get the information. You still need to buy the 500C at about 300CHF. If you do it yourself you will have access to the box for further modifications. If you let a shop do it for you, you won't be able to update your box, unless you learn to do it yourself.

Ok I will try to get a bit more from the forum since what I learned so far is not enough.

I read about the Dreambox 500C

I read about a Gemini Image ? What cam do you put in the DreamBox ? Do you have to get an official CC box and rip the card ?

you don't need a card in the dreambox - you need an emulator and keys

Two more forums to help you:

www.dreambox.info www.keywelt-board.com Enjoy as you learn.

thanks guys !

they're also extremely helpful as is Alsat and Satdudez and ......

Just to bump this one up - for those with a DN 500-c who are using emulators to decode Pay-TV signals from cable - it's highly illegal!

Actually the article is flawed in a few ways; DM500-c is the model but the picture is of a DM7020. But of course the hacking of cable TV is illegal and someone will grass you up.

Thankfully I don't have cable TV and have several subscriber cards for my satellite needs Maybe one day I'll get my SRG card to work

Someone I know with bought a 500-C for 275:_

Then someone else else I know loaded a Gemini image adn views all, ALL CC channels, including the sleaze.

your mate ?

Gemini actually stepped away last year from being associated with the keys. The images they produce are actually very good and with your internet-connected Dreambox, you can play live channels, recorded content, your MP3 collection, shoutcast, play games, get weather reports, etc.

Also it's amusing that many keys are coming out of this country (hosted websites).

It is a global problem. Virgin/NTL in UK are in the similar situation.

Is it really that simple to Hack codes of cablecom or any other provider? I have never heard sky complaining about hacking.

Cablecom should change the IT coding team in there company or sue the software code developing firm.
