Does anyone have anyexperience of using renovero.ch? Did they get the costs correct and how big was your project?
I can't see how they can estimate correctly though the internet.
I'm having trouble finding a builder that has time to do the work I want. I’ve had all the planning work done and the builder has delayed us a year already and now can’t fit us in until this time next year. The big companies i've called say it isn't enough work for them.
Reviving an old thread. Although Renovera has been recommended on many posts I have to admit that it can be a complete waste of time.
We recently posted on Renovera looking for someone to clear the snow from our driveway in winter should it ever snow, as it rarely does where we live.
All but one of the responses were from people living at least an hour away. This makes no sense as the location is clear in the ad. Only one response was from someone nearby.
I am a contractor myself, and refuse to offer my services there. No personal human connection. Either you ask someone to make a good offer, or leave it. I think people use it for the wrong reason, just to find the cheapest and have many people's offers Wasting someone's time.
The only time we went with the cheapest quote was when that particular tradesman was the only one who asked whether he could come round to look at the job before confirming his quote.
That was pretty personal.
I ignored the 8,000 CHF quote for the same job to paint a small bathroom and another 2x1m wall.
Someone else who we used through Renova is coming back to do another job (outside of Renova) as they did such a good job on the first one.
The best reason for using it though, as a customer, is that you get to see lots of reviews from both satisfied, and dissatisfied customers.
Obviously some tradesmen may not like this transparency and choose not to use such a service although seeing some of the bad reviews...you do wonder.
Some work requires an on-site visit and some contractors won't quote until they see what is involved. So there is absolutely the possibility for a meeting in person.
A decision on which firm to use is not always based on price.
It is also a waste of my time when someone visits our home and is supposed to quote but never does. Often the response to why we are still waiting for a quote is they too busy. So why bother coming in the first place?
