Vaccines are really necessary

I think the after the illness they gave you very short certificate, like one month or so.

Initially true, though 6 months duration. But later on it was equalled to the vaccination certificate’s 12 months.

The vaccination status of anonymised donors is not recorded or conveyed by blood banks.

Measles spreads very easily, so lower vaccination rates can make outbreaks more likely. High vaccination coverage also helps protect people who cannot be vaccinated for medical reasons.

Including young infants before they can get their first vaccination, normally given 12m after birth. These infants are particularly susceptible to complications from measles infections.

" It would have been the 20th anniversary of the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) Neglected Tropical Diseases Program, which has helped billions around the world recover from debilitating infections like hookworm, dengue fever and Chagas’ disease. Instead, the Trump administration eliminated the program in May.

No vaccine for this plague yet but some mRNA successful tests on animals

I hope Russia can contain this outbreak, it is in Siberia so not a major urban centre which helps

Anyone know when this year’s Covid and flu vaccines will begin in Vaud?

No idea about Vaud but it’s the 15th of October in Neuchâtel so I would imagine it would be around the same time.

Another unneccesary measles death.

Thoughts and prayers, @marton; thoughts and prayers.

God meant it to be.

Does Switzerland use a combined flu + Covid vaccine?

A friend in the USA recently had the combined jab, then wound up in hospital with what the doctors initially thought was sepsis. After a full battery of tests, loads of questions, etc. it was determined that as an immunocompromised person, probably should not have had the combined jab but instead had separate ones.

Swiss Medic have not approved it in Switzerland yet but it is available in the EU.

I’m not sure I’d want it:

Common Side Effects: Injection site pain, tiredness, muscle or joint pain, headache, chills, swollen lymph nodes, nausea, vomiting, and fever (typically starting around day 2 and lasting about 3 days).

Honestly doesn’t sound all that bad, basically flu-like symptoms:

Did they not tell the Drs that they are immunocompromised? The trial specifically excluded patients who “have received systemic immunosuppressants for >14 days in total within 180 days prior to Day 1 (for corticosteroids, ≥10 milligrams [mg]/day of prednisone or equivalent) or is anticipating the need for systemic immunosuppressive treatment at any time during participation in the study. Inhaled nasal and topical steroids are allowed.” This exclusion criterion doesn’t, in an of itself, mean immunocompromised people should not take this vaccine, it’s pretty standard in vaccine trials as immunosuppressants would suppress the action of the vaccine, but it sounds to me like the Drs should have asked your friend…

I would rather wait and catch either, probably no worse than the vaccine.

I don’t know and I didn’t ask that level of detail. I would assume it was the GP that administered the dose, so in theory that doc would know the patient’s history. However, I know from friends in the States that some docs are suggesting the combo vax for seniors to save them a second trip and co pay.
