Funny that.
It’s very rare for a virus to kill every host. If it did, in a short time, the virus would wipe itself out.

Without a control group, which in this case would have to be an unvaccinated Earth, it’s impossible to say, but how many deaths avoided would you think it takes before the ‘hype’ that you complain of would have been worthwhile? A couple of hundred? A couple of thousand? Millions?
The fact is that extrapolating from the data that we have, the measures put in place, including social distancing, vaccination, lockdown and all, can be shown to have reduced the number of deaths and serious illness significantly. Arguing the toss about which were or were not the most effective is really missing the point.
Just as earlier you completely missed the point about what your so-called “Big Pharma” did and continues to do - it saves lives.
I was not lucky, I was cautious. I washed my hands frequently, I avoided crowds, I maintained my distance, I signed up for VACCINATIONS (sorry for shouting) as soon as I could. I had six boosters I also got my flu VACCINATIONS.
A shame they weren’t black, innit.
Sadly a surprisingly high number of people do not understand the difference between a fact and an opinion so quoting facts is like
Matthew 7.6-7
This is what you say now! We don’t know how bad would have been if we didn’t have the vaccines. Personally I got vaccinated so I can travel (and of course I couldn’t get vaccinated any sooner because there were a lot of other people who needed the vaccine more than me) and then had one booster, followed by actually getting covid (which was more like a 2-3 days cold) so didn’t have any boosters afterwards.
I was very worried about our parents and older relatives and was very happy when they could get vaccinated. So no, I don’t think it was overhyped…but who knows? I know someone who got covid before getting the vaccine and all odds were against this person; yet, she survived, but it was really bad during those 7 days when she was ill. Maybe she was just lucky or very well taken care of.
Sorry for repeating myself but the lockdown and vaccination push wasn’t just about saving lives it’s main focus was to relieve pressure on the hospitals and health system.
The objective was to reduce the infection rate and the severity of the disease for those that get it. And they succeeded.
When conspiracy theories lead you to taking questionable health decisions, it does not make you look as smart as you think. But hey, at least you showed them.
True but the unvaccinated stood a much better chance of dying, Swiss first and then US charts below compare the death rates.
Myself I vaccinated to avoid catching the disease or to get a mild version rather than suffer the serious illness many did.
Well said.
No data was used for the research described in the article
TBF to the authors it doesn’t actually make any claims about the benefit or otherwise of SD; rather it’s using the assumption that SD=lower transmission rates as a starting point. So not a good example to post in this context.
But it’s very poorly written. I particularly like this bit of dubious phraseology
"As a matter of fact, available evidence suggests… "
A shocking report that the US initiated an anti-vax campaign to win influence in the Philippines against China. It just shows that in the end, we are all just expendable pawns in a bigger geopolitical game.

Briefed on the Pentagon’s secret anti-vax campaign by Reuters, some American public health experts also condemned the program, saying it put civilians in jeopardy for potential geopolitical gain. An operation meant to win hearts and minds endangered lives, they said.
“We didn’t do a good job sharing vaccines with partners,” a senior U.S. military officer directly involved in the campaign in Southeast Asia told Reuters. “So what was left to us was to throw shade on China’s.”
“We weren’t looking at this from a public health perspective,” said a senior military officer involved in the program. “We were looking at how we could drag China through the mud.”
I thought Sinovac did not work anyway. And f— the PRC.
“ True but the unvaccinated stood a much better chance of dying”
You mean Vaccinated people had better chance of dying ?
Oh no. California Dreamer is back.
What is an antivaxxer (your view)?
it is stated /written that …” It is clear that vaccination benefits far outweigh the risks”
I wonder what “far outweigh” means in terms of figures stats?
is “risks” refering to vaccine issues or actual covid disease?
Disease kills, vaccines don’t.
Our basic right is to decide what we put into our bodies. (when all is said and done). And I dont need be labeled vaxxer or anti-vaxxer
