Vegetarians and Vegans...

I think there is a need for a pleasant exchange of ideas.

My question, if Nature (that Vegetarians and Veginas adore) made us omnivores why question it? Not to mention that Nature FORCES us to consume milk products as babies.

So, not eating meat... is it because of not wanting animals killed and will those people eat synthetically grown meat... or they just want to be different?

Come to think of it, in the first chapter of the bible, God didn't say, "Eat the hapless animals!" He/She said, "Be good stewards of the animals." Or something like that. She/He offered grain and fruit as the main menu. 'Tageshit', as the Swiss restaurant windows say.

They just all seem to be such killjoys... just like people who don't drink ANY alcohol. Can you imagine being stuck with them on a plane?

So... a bunch of steamed grass shoots with some brown jelly-like substance (T.O.F.U. or TOtally F-ed Up)

OR

A fillet of the finest Montreal aged Grade A beef, moist and tender with a peppery crust grilled to perfection over open flame, with a jacket potato with sour cream OR diced smoked meat from the finest Deli in Town, Schwarz's. With beef carpaccio for entree of course.

Giving up that... is like giving up hot steamy sex, big tits, ridiculously fast cars and motorbikes, addictive drugs and rock and roll music.

To turn into a pious, apologetic shell of a man dressed in hemp sacks and listening to some New Age noise.

Not that it matters much, but I think it does say somewhere, that animals are given now to mankind for food.

I bet this is another topic related to religious beliefs.

I go with what my body tells me. At times I just am not in need for meat and at times I devour it with a ferocious appetite.

Although not quite as vocal...Im with Canadian_dude on this.

There is too much of this vegetarianism thing going on. I dont see the point of thinking about it too much. Omnivores eat Animal and plant products. End. Of. Story.

I am sure you would never see a Lion or a Tiger pass up on a human saying..."Na man, I just turned vegan".

I always read that as "Tage-sh**"

as i heard recently - if animals arent to be eaten , then why are they made of meat?

and why are they soooo delicious?

Also, "I love animals. They taste so nice !"

And

"Mary had a little lamb. She ate it with mint sauce.

Now everywhere that Mary goes, the lamb too goes, of course."

Truth.

It is almost IMPOSSIBLE to have a healthy vegan diet without having a science lab at your disposal.

Ok, i will bite..

I am a long standing veggie - you are correct that we were made as Omnivours (sp?) and in previous times it was completly acceptable to eat meat - our bodies were designed for it - our instinct was to hunt for it

However - that was a long time ago - and we are able to gain all our dietary requirements from other sources - therefore there is no 'need' to eat meat to sustain ourselves.

I believe that if you are in a position to get the correct nutritional balance for your body without eating meat - then you should have the choice whether you wish to eat meat or not

I choose not to eat meat, and havent for a long long time - however my husband and children do eat meat on a regular basis and i have no issue with that at all - its all personal choice

I think it still is acceptable to eat meat. We are still designed for it. And our instinct is still to hunt for it.

Agreed.

It is. So what are we arguing about. Lets all get together and have a nice barbecue. The weather is calling for it.

Sounds like a great idea!

I eat meat and love it, however in general the Western diet consumes much more meat than our body was designed for (unless you are trying to become the next Arnold Schwarzenegger).

Admit this has little to do with the original topic. I do think the factory meat industry that has developed is very bad for humankind (yet alone animalkind). But I love nothing better than a big steak. So rather conflicted at times. I just don't consume huge portions at every meal, much like alcohol, I enjoy it on limited occasions or limited amounts and only at a high quality.

This guy's a vegetarian: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bill_Pearl

Yes, advertised Crap of the Day, anyone?

I love hunting for meat in the supermarket - you never know where the next 20% off sticker is gonna go.

Arnold doesn't look as good as that vegetarian Bill Pearl, it looks like:

In Japan, I have dined in a restaurant with an equally double-take-inducing name:

What ́s wrong with tofu? I love it... ok, I usually eat it with a spicy meat sauce...
