Up until 8 years ago I would have continued to wish him death, but he’s since apologised so now he’s forgiven.
As the decades passed, Van Dyke’s ‘cockney’ accent remained firmly at the top of the Dodgy Accent League. People, especially Brits, roundly derided it. In 2017, actors voted it as the worst British accent by an American of all time.
The Dick Van Dyke show with Mary Tyler Moore playing his wife was standard watching in the 1960s.
The best episode was when his real life brother, Jerry, played his sleep-walking brother.

Wishing someone dead because they once produced a dodgy cockney accent in a film seems a bit extreme to me.
