Anyone know if it is legal in CH to take a child on the back of a Vespa? If so, is there an age restriction?

As long as their feet touch the pegs, there is no age restriction.

My kids have been riding in my sidecar since 1 year/ 5 months (respectively), and on the back of various bikes (Guzzis, Ducatis, no Vespas) since 5 or so. They are now 18 and (almost) 21, and have their own motorcycles.

Around here, smaller children regularly get rides to school on the tank (I'll take a photo sometime), and the elementary school principal rides his Vespa with no helmet!

It all in Art. 63 of SR 741.11 Verkehrsregelnverordnung

1 Mitfahrer auf Motorrädern, motorradähnlichen Leicht-, Klein- und dreirädrigen Motorfahrzeugen haben rittlings zu sitzen und müssen Trittbretter oder Fussrasten benutzen können. Ein Kind unter sieben Jahren darf nur auf einem durch die Zulassungsbehörde bewilligten Kindersitz mitgeführt werden.

A child below the age of seven has to be in an approved child seat. Have luck to find such a thing for a Vespa.

Anyone have experience using a child seat on a scooter?

You're right, I forgot they changed the law a few years ago.

I have seen such seats a couple times, but have never used them, and people around here just ignore it.

I wonder where one can find what would be an "approved child seat" here in CH. I noticed the link above is for child seats manufactured in Germany and maybe those are only approved for use there? Hmmmm.
