Viagra or ViSwiss?

It's not mine. Its Saudi Arabia's.

'Muslim women have the right to be enslaved by a man they don't love, forced into "arranged marriages" at a young age, against their wills.'

Oh, I finally realise, Yes you were right all along.

Thanks!

Yeah that stuff too.

Dervaish in fairness a sizeable % of the women don't get much choice. I agree it's not always like that but it is so in way too many cases. Like a cow a woman might get lucky and get to choose between few poles before she gets tied to it for life The amount of difficulty the woman will face if she later decides to leave the man are unimaginable.

And here was me thinking it's men who get trapped into marrying.

Im not denying it, in certain times and places but whitewashing everyone just coz it happens in Saudi Arabia is wrong. What happens in Guld States is a different story and has its roots in Oil politics and Ownership, dont marry outside, strictly arranged to to keep consolidation of ownership and power over the oil Revenes.

As for tied for life and "misfortunes in relationships" .. that happens everywhere, despite all Love and freedom, say in Europe why is the breakup and divorce rate so high?

There is no Perfect solution, just remedies, plus women are never happy anyway and men have their times of high hormonal activity.

In the couple of threads here regarding troubled relationships, one common concern was the "future of children" and the effect of breakup on them... so yes some of us, even when in unhappy relationships stick together for the sake of children. Just the perspective if Swiss or English do it then its for the sake of kids and if an Asian does it then its suppression

BTW... interesting read will be the practices women from Muslim tribes in Sub Saharan Africa.

You speak for me Brother!!

Also.. arranged marriages or forced marriages, whatever you call them.. they are decided upon by Women, as "Marriage" in our culture is one institution solely controlled by women, men only enforce it afterwards.

That's as may be... but "arranged by your mother and sisters and aunties" is still "arranged" in my book.

(I don't know what it is, Dervaish, but you do have a knack for bringing out the roaring feminist in me... between this and the slapping thread...)

Ok, let me get this straight. Your saying that Women from whatever culture or background actually like arranged marriages over being able to pick their own mate ?

I dont even know why I get involved in such things!!!

If I joke and stuff then some people think I need to get laid... if I talk about serious stuff then Im suposed to be defending my nation!!

But I guess... sod the political correctness and "doing the right thing".. lets just indulge in amusements...

So yess miss feminist... it is arranged, so go teach those Women, leave us men out of it :P

and BTW... arranged marriages are a little bit better than meeting someone from dating.com or expecting to meet your ideal partner via blind date set by a friend whom you wouldnt trust with your favourite CD

Yes, women have less of intellectual faculties and decision making power, so they like arranged marriages, (saves them lot of time and money dressing up and kissing 6 dozen toads in expectation to find their Prince Charming)

Really ? Because if you don't like the person you meet of dating.com you are free to tell them you are not attracted to them as a mate. That option does not seem to be present in arranged marriages (be it from anywhere).

Yes but if you havent been keeping track, people who have arranged marriages also believe in getting 72 Virgins in the next life, so they only have to worry about bearing through few years of this temporal life

No shame in that, is there? And experience is irrelevant anyway, as I believe someone was saying earlier today. (BTW I have nothing but respect for you in that regard.)

Don't ever feel you have to defend your nation though - especially not on the internet. I love my country, I'm immensely proud of it, and I happen to think there's more right than wrong with it... but defend it? That's what we pay the military for.

Nopes, no shame at all.. so what do you say .. I say Make Love not War

As for experience, Nobody teaches a Bird how to fly or a Fish how to Swim .. Some of us are just born for it...

You can say that for your military, but Our military is also paid by Your folk and defends "your interest" more than ours, so someone has to defend.

This thread has gone gorgeously off topic.

Are these like dishwashing tabs, by the way?

If you throw in the German pronunciation of 'z', you'd have to eat it over the sink -- just in case your hand and eyes are not in sync. (What were you thinking?)

(I'll get me hat.)

Hmmm.... that's a very fair point.

In that case I suppose my duty is clear. Let's you and I defend your country together!

Right. You defend the arranged marriages and I will defend the curries.

Hahahaha!!

Again you are only after your own "interest"

BTW Arranged marriages should be studied along with the Plato's "Theory of Forms" and once would understand why there is a greater chance of a couple sticking together despite being the least perfect of a solution.

In theory, I'm all for 'well or wisely arranged marriages'. I do have a few friends who are happily married after having their matches arranged by relatives, matchmakers and the like.

My criticism for arranged marriages is that they strictly limit the scope to a monogamous marriage, ask your relatives and match-making "aunties" for a second wife and they give you a scorn, the least, but tell your wife to keep an eye on you!!

Not helpful at all in that regard
