VOIP-In USA - Help!

Hi all,

I was wondering if anyone knows how I can obtain a free VOIP incoming number for USA (or if not a free, a modestly priced one through a reliable site)? I have been searching around for some time and cannot find on my own. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

Kevin

I got one at Kent, WA for free to receive - been using it for over 2 years. IPKall

Folks call the Seattle / Kent, WA number for free or very low rates and the call is forwarded to an Irish Switch and then to my Switzernet number here. I use Switzernet to make outgoing calls free to US landlines and mobiles untimed.

Thanks, quick follow-up question though, I am using voipcheap.com for my outgoing calls. I saw the IPKALL site as well, but I don't understand what the SIP phone number should be when I register? This is an input request for new registration but I don't know what they are asking me for? Can you advise?

Thanks again so much,

Kevin

You need the SIP URI for your VOIP provider.

Reference or here or even here

I have an ACN video phone that I brought with me from the US. ACN is a pyramid type of sales trap but their phone works well. I got the phone for "free", although a bunch of setup fees, and then just plugged it into my router. It sounds great and I have a local Maryland number for family to call at any time.

It does SIP and the service was extended to Europe recently. Great product, if not tied in to the pyramid thingy.

Is it worth it ?

The IRIS 3000 ACN is free

This works fine, but you have to complete a call through the number at least every 30 days, or it will expire and you will lose your phone number.

I get around it easily as I have folks who call me through that number at least once a month ( they happen to be from Kent, WA as well and so it is at the cost of a local call ).

Skype is the answer
